The Big 5

Focus on exports

Al Nasser Industrial Enterprises (ANIE) of the UAE will be launching new products at the Big 5 show and looking to further boost its export business.

ANIE is a 100 per cent UAE enterprise focused at establishing pioneer industrial manufacturing ventures in the GCC countries. Established in 1992, its head office is located at Abu Dhabi and its production facilities are in UAE, Saudi Arabia and Sultanate of Oman.

In its ninth year of operations, the group subsidiaries are expected to notch a sales turnover of $50 million generated by a dedicated workforce of 500 personnel. ANIE's subsidiaries serve primarily the building construction industry by manufacturing steel rebars, polyethylene and GRP (glass-reinforced plastic) water storage tanks, electrical distribution transformers and doing structural steel fabrication.

ANIE, which has been a regular participant at the Big 5 for the last eight years since its inception, will be at Stand No. A 180 in Hall No 4. "The show not only gives a good exposure to the decision makers and buyers, it also establishes potential export leads, which is why ANIE is always present every single year," says general manager Sanjay Mehta. "At this year's exhibition we will be displaying our tanks, steel rebars, electrical transformers, road barriers and car sheds, with the latter two being introduced for the first time.''

During the current year, ANIE's subsidiaries hope to achieve a 35 per cent growth over last year. "The jump, in spite of a global recession and an open market in the UAE, is commendable especially as exports constitute only 30 per cent of its total sales," says Mehta.

ANIE recently launched the manufacture cold drawn ribbed wire rods in coils for the weld mesh industry and, towards the end of this year, it expects to commission its third rotomolding venture in the GCC at Oman.

A five-year 'road map' of the company envisions growth within the GCC by establishing manufacturing ventures for products that have high freight incidence, he says.

In the UAE, ANIE plans to expand its capacity to cater to untapped markets and develop at least half a dozen new products in the same industrial segment.

"With the growth in the GCC's construction industry looking promising, ANIE's growth too is almost certain," Mehta adds.
