Success plan

Mabani Steel ... looking to set standards in quality.

A new entrant in the highly-competitive pre-engineered steel buildings (PEB) manufacturing sector, Mabani Steel comes to the Big 5 show with a pledge to set a new benchmark in the industry.

Although Mabani Steel is the newest PEB manufacturer in the GCC, its management team has extensive previous experience in the field, having been directly involved in the establishment and ensuing success of the first PEB manufacturer in the region in 1975, as well as two subsequent PEB manufacturers which have also become success stories in the region, says a spokesman for the Ras Al Khaimah-based company.
“Both Muayyad Khudairi (president) and Ken Krieger (vice president) were directly involved in the success of the first PEB manufacturer in this region, and in the success of two subsequent PEB manufacturers,” says the spokesman.
“All three PEB companies that we helped to establish have now expanded their manufacturing capacities to be counted among the largest and most renowned PEB companies in the world. Although several other PEB manufacturing companies have been established in this region in the past 25 years, these remain small to medium size and have not been able to achieve a true global status in this sector,” points out Khudairi.
“Mabani Steel is our fourth PEB endeavour in this region and we are determined to make it the most successful,” adds Krieger.
Mabani Steel is currently building a state-of-the-art factory over a 125,000 sq m site in Ras Al Khaimah, which is expected to have a monthly PEB production capacity of 6,000 tonnes. It will be equipped with two high-capacity beam auto welders, two shot blasters, two fully-automated painting machines, one shear, one plasma-cutting machine and plate processing machinery. A vast range of sophisticated material handling systems is currently being installed at the facility.
The company is determined to set higher standards in product quality, response time, sales transparency and project management services and hence is introducing for the first time in the region several innovations in engineering, customer service and quality control, says Khudairi.
“We are confident that within two years of starting operations, Mabani Steel will become the most trusted and admired PEB manufacturer in the region by consultants, contractors and clients,” he comments.
“The PEB system used today is one of the fastest, most economical and most flexible building systems for the construction of single-storey non-residential buildings right from inquiry to occupancy. The system has captured 80 per cent of the US market for non-residential single-storey construction and looks set to achieving similar success in the GCC,” adds Khudairi.
“Mabani Steel is focused on building a dependable company that can sustain its growth and profitability over a long period of time. That is why we continuously emphasise the importance of people, discipline, systems and performance in our organisation. Our aim is to create a working environment where our managers are empowered to operate freely but within clearly defined systems and procedures, and through them we plan to disseminate our values throughout the organisation,” concludes Khudairi.
