Daikin Middle East will be making its maiden appearance at the Big 5 show with a stand reflecting the innovative features of the company’s wide range of advanced residential and commercial air-conditioning equipment.
At the show, the global leader in the air-conditioning systems industry will highlight its comprehensive R-410A VRV (variable refrigerant volume) section, which will include the ‘high ambient’ VRV, developed specially for installation in Middle East markets and the recently-introduced water-cooled VRV.
Also on view will be the company’s extensive sky air and splits air-conditioning range and user-friendly system controllers along with other air-conditioning solutions for residential, industrial and commercial market sectors.
“The Daikin VRV system is recognised throughout the world as a benchmark for advanced air-conditioning technology. The VRV is a sophisticated rapid-response system in which multiple indoor fan coil units can be zoned with on a single refrigerant circuit. An inverter-driven compressor modulates system output to match the precise cooling/heating requirements of the conditioned space,” says Saidja Geirnaert, managing director of Daikin Middle East.
“The special high ambient VRVII has an operating temperature range of -5 deg C to 50 deg C (cooling only) and can support up to 32 indoor fan coil units on the same refrigerant circuit. Models are available from 92,100 to 276,300 Btu/hour. The system is compact with lightweight modular outdoor units that require minimum installation space. The inverter controlled DC compressor generates high COP values and efficiency levels, reducing electricity consumption and running costs,” he adds.
The water-cooled VRV is designed for use in new commercial projects where no roof or external space is available for outdoor condensing units or where stringent noise restrictions apply. It can, however, also be fitted to an existing chilled water/cooling tower circuit during refurbishment operations.
Cooling is achieved by means of a plate heat exchanger, located within the condensing unit casing and supplied with pre-cooled water at temperatures ranging from 10 deg C to 45 deg C from a cooling tower. Available in 10, 20 and 30 HP models, the water-cooled VRVII operates on R-410A refrigerant with heat recovery on both refrigerant and water circuits as standard. The condensing unit is remarkably compact at 1000 by 780 by 550 mm, lightweight at only 150 kg, and can be installed in space-saving ‘double-decker’ fashion in a plant room. As many as 13 different types of Daikin indoor units in 75 different models from 7,800 btu/hour to 98,300 btu/hour capacity are compatible with the new system and up to 32 can be connected to one condensing module.
The company’s stand at the Big 5 will also be a shop window for the outdoor units of the sophisticated Daikin sky air and split air conditioning range, along with a number of different indoor fan coil unit models, including ceiling concealed, slim ceiling concealed, ceiling mounted, ceiling suspended, wall mounted and ‘flexi’ types.
Visitors to the show will also see units from the Daikin suite of user-friendly system controllers, which comprise: The I-manager, a sophisticated system for monitoring and controlling VRV systems with up to 1,024 indoor fan coil units – which in the event of the central computer crashing – can continue its control and management functions for about 48 hours; the I-controller offers building owners, facilities managers and maintenance operators refined, energy-efficient control of mixed VRV/Sky Air/heat reclaim installations via a Daikin DIII adaptor; as well as the BACnet Gateway, which is an integrated control and management system, providing seamless connection between VRV and building management systems.
The Daikin display range will also include examples of its latest photo-catalytic air purifier, packaged air-conditioners and screw compressors. The air purifier is unique in the Middle East and removes 99.6 per cent of allergens such as pollen, house mites, and dust among others and 99.99 per cent of bacteria and viruses. It also has 95 per cent of deodorizing efficiency, which effectively removes tobacco smoke by quickly collecting particles and breaking them down rapidly in rooms sizes up to 48 sq m.
All equipment that will be displayed at the event will be available to potential customers from the Daikin Middle East headquarters at Jebel Ali Free Zone and its distributorship network spread throughout the Middle East countries. The companies regional offices, which were established earlier this year, will initially serve Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar along with supporting a dealer network and the full Daikin product portfolio.
A distribution centre has also been set up in Jebel Ali to ensure the ready availability of air-conditioning units to customers spread throughout the region.
