SL Trading of the UAE has launched a range of quality Australian safety clothing and hats for the construction industry in the region, and is celebrating the success of a major order from a Dubai contractor.

By acquiring the distributorships for Visitec safety workwear as well as Frillneck hats within the Middle East, the Dubai-based SL Trading has diversified its portfolio to cater to the construction and contracting market.
A rapidly developing bespoke distributor, SL Trading’s headquarters is located at the Al Hana Centre in Dubai.
“We commenced operations in April 2007 as the distributor for Sporte Leisure, a manufacturer of golf, corporate, and promotional apparel, including headwear and luggage,” says managing director Rhonda Selley. “Now, the agreements with Visitec and Frillneck will enable us to penetrate a very active market with a comprehensive collection of safety clothing from one of the largest and trusted manufacturers and suppliers of the world.”
She continues: “By introducing these products, we hope there will be a significant increase in awareness for the need for safety management in the construction market. There are a phenomenal number of construction and contracting projects across the Gulf, and products such as these are vital to protect site workers and provide secure safety measures while on the job.”
A supplier of superior, value-for-money workwear, and high visibility safety clothing manufactured in Australia, Visitec Workwear is credited with having pioneered high-visibility microfibre workshirts back in 1995.
The lightweight, breathable, colour-retentive workshirts meet Australian safety standards, which are among the highest in the world.
Today, Visitec is the most recognised – and one of the toughest – brands within Australia’s high visibility marketplace, through the company’s ongoing commitment to product development, superior materials and product craftsmanship that offers reliable safety and all-weather protection for site workers.
Visitec’s workwear has been independently tested and proven by Australia’s Commonwealth Scientific and Research Organisation (CSIRO) and is rated higher when compared with other workwear fabrications, including cotton, for air permeability, says Selley.
“Put simply, it’s like a ventilation system for the body,” she explains.
Visitec Workwear says it complies with the following Australian and New Zealand safety standards: AS/NZ4399 – UPF40-50 + Sun Protection; AS/NZ4602 – High Visibility Safety Garments and AS/NZ1906.4 – High Visibility Materials for Safety Garments.
Frillneck hats, meanwhile, have been very well received since their launch  and SL Trading is buoyed by an early success, with one of Dubai’s largest construction companies recently buying 20,000 Frillneck hats for its workers.
“Frillnecks are widely used at the construction sites. Patented in over 25 countries, designed and made in Australia, Frillnecks are essential outdoor headwear, providing a high-level of protection from the sun and environment,” Selley explains.
“We are seeing a trend in the construction industry to look after employees who are exposed to the sun all day,” Selley says, adding that Frillneck offers high visibility and SPF 50 UV (ultraviolet) protection which “assists in keeping people cool while working under the heat”.
Frillneck’s advantages are said to be its ability to wick moisture away,  improve worker’s visibility, high level of hygiene and reasonable cost.
“As customers’ needs change and evolve, they require new innovations in securing safety around the workforce. It is our objective to deliver guaranteed, high-quality and reliable personal protective safety solutions that will meet the consumers’ needs across the Gulf,” Selley concludes.
