Riyadh-based Andal Group is looking forward to a further surge in business as a leading provider of superior quality works and supplies in the construction market, in view of the record growth levels that the roofing and waterproofing specialist has witnessed over the past year.
“Business is excellent, with a 40 per cent increase in business levels since last year, with the company registering the highest growth levels since its inception in 1990, says Omar Al Mahdi, owner and general manager of the Andal Group.
The company, which enjoys a yearly turnover of about $4 million, expects to reach a target of $6 million this year, because of the great boom in Saudi Arabia's construction market, fuelled by a government-driven growth and by major investments made by private companies in the development of real estate.
The market is booming with the government implementing numerous water supply projects as well as hospitals, schools and other public projects.
“Our main source of business currently lies in waterproofing and re-roofing projects. This is because a lot of buildings were built during the last major boom 10 years ago and all these structures are now requiring considerable maintenance work,” he points out.
The Andal Group specialises in the supply and installation of waterproofing, thermal insulation, industrial coatings and flooring, concrete repair and protection, concrete injection, water jetting, acid etching, lightweight foam concrete (LWFC), and ponds, tanks and underground lining.
It is the sole agent and approved applicator in Saudi Arabia for the following international manufacturers: Kuwait-based Isofoam for extruded polystyrene; Sweden’s Trelleborg for EPDM roofing systems; UK-based Conren for waterproof coatings and epoxies; US-based Synko+Flex for PVC waterproofing material and Italian manufacturer Mibo for LWFC equipment and additives.
The company is currently looking for agencies in concrete repairs.
The Andal Group has played a major role in some of most prestigious projects in Saudi Arabia, such as the expansion of the two holy mosques at Makkah and Madinah as well as the Al Faisalah Centre in Riyadh.
“We are currently working on various projects such as the waterproofing works on 500 villas at the King Abdullah Charity Housing development and for 5,000 villas in a Madinah housing project. We are also involved in the re-roofing work at the Koran Printing Press among others,” adds Mahdi.
The company has participated in various landmark projects in Saudi Arabia including: Riyadh water reservoir; a number of hospital projects for the Ministry of Health such as Abdulaziz Specialist Hospital and Al Meqateen Hospital (both in Taif), King Faisal Specialist Hospital (Riyadh) and the Prince Abdul Mohsin Hospital (Al-Ula); King Saud University (Riyadh); King Abdulaziz University (Jeddah); Prince Sultan's Air Base, General Directorate of Military Works, Saudi Royal air defence base and the Military Industries Corporation, all in Al Kharj; National Commercial Bank; and Ministry of Education, Ministry of Interior, Sceco, Sabic housing and Saudi Aramco projects, among others.
Established in 1990 in Riyadh, the Andal Group has branches in Jeddah, Madinah, Abha and Al Khobar with a workforce of 176 employees.
