Al Khobar-based Nassir Al Mulhim Consultant Engineers (NMCE) – a leading architectural engineering consultancy – is gearing up to handle a surge in business levels, given the boom in the Saudi construction and real estate investment fields.
To further its capabilities and growth, NMCE has expanded its offices and increased its workforce by recruiting engineering specialists to help in meeting the demands of a heightened construction market in the region.
The practice has also expanded business activities by going overseas and establishing a joint venture with a reputable US consulting firm. It has established a back-up office in Egypt to explore the potential in that large market and enhance its Middle East business experience.
“We believe that the next year will hold opportunities for great investments in the construction field, boosted by the economic policies adopted by the Gulf countries,” says Hazem Habashy, executive manager of NMCE. “We expect to see new market entrants, as established firms expand or form mergers to stand up to the competition.”
Established in 1984, the practice offers various services including architectural and engineering (structural, electromechanical and environmental) design, construction/projects management, estimation and preparation of contract documents and bid evaluation, construction supervision, topographical and soil surveys, advisory services, and scale-model making, rendered perspectives and presentation.
“The experience we have gained over more than two decades on prestigious projects and our expertise makes us one of the most promising and fast-growing medium-scale firms in our field of specialisation,” says Habashy.
“As a consultancy house committed to excellence in architectural engineering, we plan on taking the lead in the flourishing market in Saudi Arabia,” he adds.
The company’s current order book includes some major ongoing projects such as medical and industrial waste disposal facilities – worth a total of SR300 million ($79.98 million) – in Riyadh, Yanbu and Dammam; the National Shooting Club (SR70 million) and the Riyadh Cement Company housing (SR55 million) at Riyadh; Jarir Plaza (SR65 million) in Dhahran and Dammam; Al Mulhem residential complex (SR 24 million), four factories at Al Rashed Industrial Complex (SR65 million) and Al Semael office building (SR20 million) in Al Khobar; Al Kadi showroom (SR 10 million) in Dammam; the Al Jabr residential building (SR 19 million) and Al Hussain school (SR 25 million) at Al Hasa. It is also conducting survey and planning for the railway organisation under a SR4 million contract.
Over the past two decades, the practice has successfully participated in a number of major projects including the SR 16 million Al Rashid (RAR) transportation complex in Abu Hadriya; Holiday Inn Hotel (SR65 million) in Al Khobar; and the Al Shatea Mall (SR 70 million) constructed last year in Dammam.
NMCE is staffed by 55 employees including architects, engineers, surveyors, draftsmen, administrative staff and labourers.
Over the years, the company has expanded into some of the growing markets in the region through setting up four branch offices at Hofuf, Mubaraz, Mazroia and Abqaiq, in order to provide its architectural services throughout the kingdom.
