For more than a decade, Dubai-based Geze Middle East has been serving the Saudi market with state-of-the-art system technologies for smart buildings.
Geze ME is a major supplier for Geze German-manufactured door and window control systems. The company’s reputation to deliver innovative state-of-the-art solutions that safeguard modern-day buildings has placed it on the approved list of vendors for many government departments, developers, contractors and architects.
Saudi Arabia is one of the early markets that Geze penetrated in the region and is one where it has attained a leading position in the supply for door and window controls.
“Geze ME has been working closely with its Saudi partners to provide the best quality and service to this important growing market,” says a spokesman for Geze ME.
Commenting about the Saudi market, he says: “Known for maintaining high quality standards, the Saudi market only accepts products of reputable sources. The construction market there went through a learning curve a while ago and now buyers don’t want to throw their valuable resources away by investing in cheap products. Quality is a key criterion in public buildings like hospitals, shopping malls, schools, educational institutes and hotels etc, where the project specifications are always high and demanding.”
“It is economical to do it correctly from the beginning, even if it costs more,” he points out. “Builders will end up saving more in replacement parts and repairs.”
“American standards were the first yardstick used in the market,” he adds. “However, European standards, notably CE (Conformité Européenne), have since been introduced and are now widely accepted in the Saudi market.”
Conformité Européenne (French for European Conformity) is a mandatory European marking for certain product groups to indicate conformity with the essential health and safety requirements set out in European directives. The CE mark must be affixed to a product if it falls under the scope of the so-called “New Approach” directives. Without the CE marking, and thus without complying with the provisions of the directives, the product may not be placed in the market or put into service within the European Union.
“The Saudi market too is heading in the same direction, while also requesting a UL (Underwriters Laboratories) listing on all supplies to major projects,” the spokesman indicates.
“Geze’s products are all tested and certified according to the DIN and to the EN and also bear the CE marking, which make them a popular choice for quality-sensitive markets such as Saudi Arabia.”
Geze ME has built up an impressive reference list, including the Kingdom’s Ministry of Education, which has equipped most schools with the Geze TS2000 overhead door closer.
Riyadh’s two high-rise towers, the Kingdom and the Faisaliah centres, are both equipped with the Geze smoke extraction system RWA 110, while the Museum of Riyadh has the Slimdrive, a state-of-the-art automatic sliding door operator. Some medical sector references using Geze products include Prince Sultan’s Medical City, Al Saad Hospital and the Rehabilitation Centre in Dammam.
The largest residential complex under construction in Makkah is equipped with a Geze concealed door closer. And to ensure maximum security, the Strategic Reserves Project has installed Geze’s most powerful door closer suitable for blast proof doors, the TS 4000 Tandem.
