
Bahrain's Ministry of Education is considering building a BD6.5 million ($17.24 million) comprehensive commercial and technical school in Riffa, said Abdulaziz Mohammed Al Fadhel, Minister of Education.
$21m building to come up
Dubai: A new Dh80 million ($21.78 million) building will soon be constructed on a 21,008 sq ft plot on Baniyas Street in the Al Riqqa Al Buteen area of Dubai, UAE.
The project, with a built-up area of 149,796 sq ft will have four basement levels, a ground floor and 17 upper storeys. It will have a parking lot for 173 cars and offices.
Sheraton Dubai to get facelift
Dubai: Sheraton Dubai Hotel and Towers will shortly undergo a major renovation programme, which will give a facelift to its exterior, as well as its restaurants, public areas and presidential suites. In addition, a new meeting room complex will be built.
Manama: A BD2.5 million ($6.63 million) world-class entertainment centre is to be established by the Bahrain Hotels Company (BHC), which owns the Gulf Hotel. A feasibility study for the project, which is expected to include a massive entertainment floor, a discotheque, an Arabic nightclub and a snooker room, is currently being finalised. BHC will also spend between BD400,000 and BD500,000 to develop landscaping and relocate the swimming pool at the hotel complex.
Work starts on Seef Tower
Manama: Work has started on the 11-storey Seef Tower and a multi-storey car-park in the Seef Mall complex in Bahrain. The project, being developed by Seef Properties which is owned by the Housing Bank, is scheduled for completion by February next year,
The seven-storey car-park will have parking space for 650 vehicles and will be linked to the main Seef Mall building. Seef Tower was designed by Modern Architects and is being built by Mannai Engineering while the car-park has been designed by Raglan Squire and Partners and is being built by Olympic Contracting.
Grid link-up MoU signed
Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Company (Takreer) and the Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (Adwea) have signed a memorandum of understanding to link up their electricity grids.
The project, which is expected to be operational in June 2001, will involve the expansion of Takreer and the Abu Dhabi Transmission and Dispatch Company (Transco) 132 and 220 kV substations and the installation of 220 kV power cables connecting the two grids in Ruwais.
