Egger – one of the largest manufacturers of chipboard, MDF (medium-density fibreboard) boards, OSB (oriented strand board) boards and finished timber materials in Europe – is planning to showcase a wide range of the company’s products at the Big 5 show.
“Be it floors or ceilings, furniture-making or wood construction, Egger offers everything the market needs in terms of wood-based materials. The secret of our success in the markets lies in our widely experienced staff, a continual focus on quality, constant innovation and service,” says a company spokesperson.
“We are making our first appearance at the Big 5 show and Egger will be promoting all its products that include: wood-based materials from raw and basic products such as chipboard, MDF and OSB boards, laminated and refined semi-finished and finished components to laminate flooring,” she adds.
Wide range
“At Egger we give a new form to wood. From Eurospan rawboard, Formline MDF and Eurostrand OSB board to ready-made furniture components and floors in a coordinated range of colours, decors and materials, Egger offers an entire range of products from floors to ceilings. The products are innovative, environmentally-friendly and modern, and therefore are suitable for the most varied of applications from decorative interior fittings to timber construction,” she says.
Eurospan
Egger Eurospan rawboards come in a variety of strengths and provide the high quality material for a range of other refined products. The boards are created using environmentally friendly methods from waste wood from the milling industry and forestry as well as from recycled high-quality wood. The binder used on them is an artificial resin, which is extremely low in formaldehyde and cures when heat is applied; the hardener is chloride-free, says the spokesperson.
Eurospan is among the leading rawboards in Europe with high environmental compatibility and long tool service lives.
With a milled tongue and groove profile, Egger Eurospan flooring boards are especially well suited for laying floors using dry mortarless construction techniques.
Egger Eurospan 2000 thin chipboards are extra-thin fine chipboards, which are produced according to the calendar process.
Formline
This homogeneous board has a high density and a fine, smooth surface, making it an all-round efficient and cost-effective product to work with. It can be sanded, milled, drilled and pressed. Coating, painting, veneering and filming produces high-quality products for all areas of furniture and fittings.
• MDF – with a sanded surface on both sides and high strength and dimensional stability, Formline MDF guarantees above-average processing properties, she points out.
• HDF – the high-density fibre boards with a hard middle layer for stable tongue and groove profile are characterised by their excellent processing properties and good swell performance. Formline HDF fulfils all requirements in terms of strength, dimensional stability and emissions. HDF is primarily refined to produce a wide range of high-quality laminate flooring solutions.
• Three-dimensional deformed, HDF boards, used for production of doors in dry applications.
• DFF – is a moisture resistant, synthetic resin-bonded wood fibreboard with low bulk density.
• DHF – is a diffusion-open, moisture-resistant, synthetic resin boundmedium density fibre board.
Eurostrand OSB
The separate preparation of the middle and covering layer and the optimised alignment of the strands mean that Egger sets new standards in terms of material properties and improved production values. The optimised strand preparation also ensures a light, attractive Contifine surface which, in addition to the various possibilities in terms of design, also allows it to be used in numerous decorative applications.
Egger Eurodekor
Melamine resin-coated chipboards E1 and softforming elements are what lies behind the Egger Eurodekor brand name.
These include Melamine resin-coated chipboards, which are Eurospan fine chipboards with a decorative plastic coating based on melamine resin on both sides; and Softforming elements, which are profiled Egger Eurospan rawboards with a decorative plastic coating based on melamine resin on both sides and with melamine edging. They are extremely resistant to abrasions and scratches, do not mark easily and they really have the ‘edge’: in many forms, colours and decors.
Egger Euroform
Egger produces and markets a variety of laminates and edges under the Egger Euroform brand name. These include
• Laminates, which have a hardwearing, decorative surface and are produced using a continuous method. This produces a happy marriage of extreme resistance and design; and
• Melamine and safety edging.
Other products
Other products include Euroform postforming products from worktops, frontal elements, window sills etc; Formline 2000 MDF lacquerboard; and prefabricated elements.

Subsidiary Egger Floor Products is one of the leading laminate flooring companies in the world. All semi-finished products required for the production of flooring come from the Egger group. The firm offers a broad and comprehensive range of floor-related products tailored to the requirements of its partners, says the spokesman.

Thanks to the new size Vivo Nature is positioning itself in the high-class sector of parquet flooring: a floor which is as attractive as real-wood parquet and as robust and durable as laminate, she says.
Quality management
“An awareness of the importance of wood as a raw material increases the demands made of the manufacturing process, which is why Egger sees it as vital to have the highest standards of quality from start to finish,” says the spokesperson. “Egger chipboard and rawboard consists almost exclusively of softwoods. Only wood resulting from forest thinning and remnants from nearby sawmills, of selected quality, are used. In addition, storage of the wood on an asphalt-covered storage areas ensures a clean raw material,” she adds.
Egger’s quality policy involves continuous monitoring of organisational, technical and commercial activities. With this in mind, Egger has developed its own quality management system, which guarantees quality at every level of the company. Internal and independent, authorised auditing institutions ensure permanent optimisation and evaluation of the Egger quality standards.
Egger has also been awarded an EN ISO 9001:2000 certificate as early as in October 2001 and this means Egger can guarantee customers and partners to get uniformly high product and service quality, irrespective of location or country,” she points out.
