

The engineering expertise in steel-glass construction of Austrian specialist Waagner Biro Stahl-Glas-Technik will be brought to the fore in yet another major construction project in Dubai – the Dubai Festival City (DFC).
At the mega development, the company has been assigned the task of designing and producing the complex roof structure over the Crescent Mall, the roof and front wall of the leisure area called Festival Square as well as the structure that combines the two.
Elaborating about the project, a spokesman of Waagner says: “The DFC is destined to become the major attraction for not only the people of Dubai but also for tourists from across the globe. Hence, keeping the visiting public in mind, the Festival City has been designed to create a creekside “city within a City”, a true master-planned waterfront community comprising a unique mix of entertainment, dining, shopping, sport and leisure facilities, automotive dealerships, hotels, a marina, residential and office components. The Festival City project was conceived by renowned architects HOK and Jerde.
“Waagner’s scope of works on the project include planning, production, delivery and assembly of roofing for Crescent Mall and Festival Square at the huge Festival City project. The completion scheduled for June 2006.”
