Swiss/German specialist in the manufacture of veneer and sawn timber from high-quality hardwood for decorative purposes – the Danzer Group – will arrive at this year’s Big 5 with its range of veneers and other products that have use in various applications especially as a valuable component in the design of luxury interior surfaces.
“The company is today the world’s biggest manufacturer of hardwood veneer made from American and European wood. Danzer Group also does business in sawn timber production and in log trade,” says a company spokesman.
“The demand for wood as a raw material is growing. Its supremely commendable life cycle assessment, the wide variety of different types of wood and wood products, their technical properties and their ability to be adapted for designing are but a few of the reasons for this growing demand,” he says.
“Wood is unique as it offers an individuality that is unmatched by other materials. Architects and designers use the incomparable attributes of this material in the product mix with other materials.
“This apart, wood not only has a great potential for assuming an important function in modern design: it has, above all, the advantage of being a natural material in comparison to synthetic ones. In the interplay with other materials in particular, this can be used to create interesting contrasts. This is demonstrated by the increasing importance of real wood in interior design, for example of vehicles, aircraft or ships in the creation of emotionality and warmth, which harmonize ideally with modern technology and contemporary design.
Veneer
Used as a decorative wood surface in a wide variety of areas, as in the furniture and door industry, by automakers, in shop construction and interior decoration, and in boat-building or aircraft furnishing, veneer offers extensive design possibilities with respect to form and combinations with materials like glass, fabrics, steel, lacquer and other veneer species. The creative work with fascinating veneer gives common items an individual, valuable character, the spokesman adds.
The second major product line of the Danzer Group is lumber from high-quality hardwood. Again, the group focuses on lumber that is being used as surface material, not for construction purposes. Sawn-timber is widely used to give interiors and furniture a natural look.
He continues: “Putting fine, beautiful wood to the best possible uses and thereby enhancing its aesthetic value is a key aspect of Danzer’s strategy and our goal is to be the first place customers turn to find high-quality decorative wood.
“Hence adhering to high standards of quality in the production and processing of choice wood, as well as conserving wood resources by means of sustainable forest management, form an integral part of the corporate philosophy of Danzer Group.
“In the past years, Danzer Group has invested heavily in ongoing improvement of its technical equipment for manufacturing sawn timber and veneer. A large number of initiatives in this area directed towards meeting customer specifications more closely, for the highest possible level of quality, and for the optimal utilisation of the valuable resource of wood.
“Service and the provision of services are what customers demand alongside product quality. Optimizing service for customers is thus increasingly the focal point of Danzer Group’s efforts,” the spokesman concludes.
