The Bahrain Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEB) in association with the Nuernberg Global Fairs of Germany will host the third Water Middle East conference at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre from November 14 to 16.
According to BCEB exhibitions manager, Abdulla Shafeea, having access to safe and sufficient water is now recognised as basic human rights which makes Water Middle East 2005 a step forward in working towards the conservation and protection of water resources in the region. In addition to the basic shortage of water resources, the event will also focus on technical know-how which the region lacks.
The event will include: a tradeshow offering a world of solutions leading to efficient water management; a conference where international as well as regional speakers will present expertise and solutions from around the world on water resources management, management of water companies, drinking water treatment, wastewater treatment, reuse, irrigation, agriculture, supply networks and distribution and sewer systems; and industry forum, which will highlight technologies in use presented by various manufacturers and suppliers.
The organisers have also arranged for a special forum on “Management of pipe-based infrastructure using modern no-dig methods. The forum will not only focus on the laying, maintenance and cleaning problems of water and drainage pipes, but will also include gas and telecommunication lines.
Last year’s exhibition – spread across 3,600 sq m – witnessed a turnover of around 3,100 visitors, with 139 companies from 21 countries using the event as an exhibiting platform.
Besides experts from the region, the number of German experts at the well-attended conference (over 300 participants) and the accompanying exhibition was accordingly noticeably large. Germany is Bahrain’s third largest import partner after Japan and Saudi Arabia.
Visitors are expected from the sectors of water recovery, desalination, treatment, distribution, irrigation, wastewater discharge, wastewater treatment, renovation and modernisation of plant, drains and pipes. The main groups of visitors will be government representatives, consultants, decision makers and engineers from operators, industry and service providers, scientists and other industry experts – primarily from countries in the Arab world.
Process Middle East 2005 will also be held concurrently along with Water Middle East 2005.
