Bahrain’s Central Informatics Organisation (CIO) has just completed the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) project for the Isa Town area which will allow developers to find out and resolve underground obstacles, such as pipelines, or boundary problems instantly.

‘‘The new database using the geospatial-based system will cut delays in granting building permits and the project for the whole of Bahrain will be completed by the end of the year,’’ said CIO president Shaikh Ahmed bin Ateyatallah Al Khalifa.
‘‘The project, which will serve as an important tool for decision-makers, has been developed by the steering committee over the past 18 months and contains all the necessary infrastructure database layers such as gas, oil, and land parcel boundaries. It will help provide accurate and precise information necessary to speed up the issue of permits for the investors and the citizens.’’
Besides data on infrastructure like oil and gas pipelines, the system will also provide data on land boundaries, topography, road network, addresses and electric and water distribution pipelines and other important data for decision makers.”
