Dubai Maritime City (DMC), the world’s first purpose-built maritime centre, has finalised a strategic development plan for its integrated utilities area.

The excavation and piping works for core infrastructure facilities are now near completion, says DMC.
DMC’s utilities area has been strategically planned to provide centralised distribution of all utility services for the city, incorporating the core infrastructure for the water division Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa), district cooling, sewage, drainage, irrigation and utility tunnel.
The development plan for the centralised public services network, waste disposal and collection system, pedestrian facilities, public transport systems and recreational amenities have also been finalised.
Excavation works for the district cooling are almost complete, along with excavation and pipelaying for the water division. Sewerage excavation works are also ahead of schedule with pipelaying nearing completion. Moreover, a number of helipads throughout the project are also planned, along with streetlighting and landscaping, which will be tailored to include custom-made, stylish street furniture, he added.
