Durrat Al Bahrain has awarded local contractor Chapo a new contract for the second phase of villa construction.

The BD15.7 million ($41.66 million) contract will involve the construction of 171 villas on two of the development’s islands.
Villas are currently being constructed across four of Durrat Al Bahrain’s planned 11 islands. All of the development’s luxury villas are being constructed by Bahraini contractors at a total value of BD120 million, with the first contract having been awarded to Projects Construction Company in February 2006 to build 83 villas on the project’s first island for BD7 million.
This latest award follows on from the construction work that is already well under way on 890 villas in both Phases 1 and 2 of the $4 billion project, as well as the finalisation of infrastructure works on seven of the project’s 11 islands.
Work has already begun on this latest contract and homeowners can expect to start taking delivery of their new island lifestyle homes from Phase 1 of the project towards the end of this year.
