The Arena Mall ... lavish retail space.

Dubai Sports City, the world’s first integrated sports city, has revealed plans to develop more than 1.7 million sq ft of retail space across three distinctive destinations – the Arena Mall, North Point retail and commercial hub, and South Point retail and commercial hub.

Located on Emirates Road, and occupying prime locations within Dubai Sports City, all three components are expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2009.
The Arena Mall, the largest retail destination within Dubai Sports City, will offer approximately 1.4 million sq ft of gross lettable space over two floors.
“Presenting some 230 units, the mall’s diverse retail mix will provide an appealing combination of specialty stores, everyday shopping outlets, and unique sporting and lifestyle products,” says a spokesman for the project. “There will also be a comprehensive range of fastfood outlets and family dining venues, as well as a multi-screen cinema complex and an entertainment zone with a sporting theme.”
Over 70,000 individuals are expected to live and work within Dubai Sports City, once it is complete.
“To further ensure high and sustained footfall, the Arena Mall occupies an optimal location within Dubai Sports City, in close proximity to the cricket stadium and the multi-purpose outdoor stadium and directly linked to the 10,000 multi-purpose indoor arena,” states Khalid Al Zarooni, president of Dubai Sports City.
North Point, Dubai Sports City’s larger retail and commercial hub, will provide visitors with an appealing combination of upscale casual dining and boutique shopping whilst stunning views of the waterfront promenade, outdoor seating and a Riviera-style atmosphere will add to its attraction. Situated at the northern end of Dubai Sports City’s central waterway, at the heart of a vibrant downtown district, the venue will offer a gross lettable area of approximately 210,000 sq ft across 92 retail units.
Dubai Sports City has also said that work is fast progressing on its Ernie Els-designed golf course, The Dunes.
A links-style course combined with traditional design elements, The Dunes is championship golfer Ernie Els’ first project in the Middle East.
Construction, which began in January 2006 was scheduled for completion in June. The entire 18 holes have been shaped and fourteen fairways grassed with Tifway 419 Bermuda.
Complementing the world-class standards of play offered at The Dunes is a Butch Harmon School of Golf for players of all ages and skill levels, as well as amenities including a fabulous 42,000 sq ft clubhouse designed by world-renowned clubhouse architects Kuo-Diedrich of Atlanta, Georgia and BSB Gulf from Dubai.
Both the golf course and the Butch Harmon School of Golf will be managed by internationally-renowned, Troon Golf – a leader in upscale golf course management. The course is set to be the jewel of the $3.6 billion Dubai Sports City – the world’s first fully integrated athletic metropolis, located in Dubailand.
