National Readymix ... quality pours.

The long association between the National Readymix Concrete (NRC) and Al Basti & Muktha has been going from strength to strength, with the two companies sharing phenomenal growth and jointly contributing to the UAE’s booming economy.

“Our cooperation in the past has resulted in many iconic developments in Dubai and both companies are looking forward to continue carrying forward this success into the future,” says an NRC spokesman.
“We have many projects to our name – the Knowledge Village, Emaar headquarters, 22 villas at Umm Sequeim and 271 at Al Warkaa, are just a few in the long list,” he adds.
One of the more challenging projects that the partnership has handled of late is the Arabian Ranches development.
“The requirements of the project were of a huge scale and NRC had to commission a new fully computerised concrete batching plant with a capacity of 90 cu m/hr for it,” he adds.
“The sky is the limit for development in Dubai and NRC is taking full advantage of the unprecedented escalation in construction activity in the UAE,” he says.
Currently, the company is executing a high-rise at Al Mankhool in Bur Dubai, Marina Tower at Dubai Marina and a Burj Dubai development – Old Town site A, Phase 1 to 9 buildings.
NRC, a division of Lootah Group of companies, was established in 1977 with an objective of taking part in the growing construction sector. Being pioneers in the field, NRC has implemented the latest techniques and has led the readymix concrete sector, both in terms of technology and innovation.
“We are proud to be the leading suppliers of quality readymix concrete. We are contributing our bit in building the emirate’s infrastructure by providing the best concrete products to the contractors,” he points out.
To cater to the vast demand of the construction sector, NRC has spread out a total of eight fully operational plants at six different branches – at Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Sharjah Jebel Ali and Arabian Ranches.
“All plants are fully computerised and equipped with state-of-the-art technology. We have ice plants set up at all locations which enable us to produce substantial quantities of ice for temperature control. As a proof of our technical and logistical superiority, we have a large fleet of 150 transit mixers of capacities ranging from 6 cu m to 14 cu m, and 35 concrete pumps with a boom reach ranging from 28 m to 52 m,” he maintains.
The group also has its own crusher with washing units at Fujairah to ensure a regular supply of quality raw material and is supported by a fleet of trailers, thereby ensuring the timely supply of material to all its plants.
Over the years, NRC has added many names to its client list including Dubai and Abu Dubai municipalities, Public Works Department, Ministry of Defence, and the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa). It has also been associated with a number of major players in the private sector such as: Arabtec Constructions, Al Shafar General Contracting Company, Wade Adams Contracting Company, Naresco Contracting Company and Al Ahmadiah Contracting Company and many more.
The company has shown its commitment for quality by deploying a quality control system with a well-equipped lab in accordance with BS and ASTM. “A combination of a qualified and experienced team coupled with quality material has enabled us to be regarded as one of the market leaders. Quality has always been the key word in NRC’s corporate policy and that is the reason why we have invested heavily in maintaining a lab equipped with cutting-edge modern equipment,” he comments.
“One of our major goals was achieved when NRC adopted the latest methods and techniques of designing advanced, high quality concrete mixes. We take full advantage of all types of chemical as well as mineral admixture available in the market to improve the durability and other properties of concrete in its plastic state or after hardening, thereby ensuring structures that perform well during their entire design life,” he concludes.
