A NEW venture with leading German furniture manufacturers will see Komandor Middle East launch a showroom in Bahrain later this month, dedicated to a complete range of home furniture as well as high-end kitchens.
The new 15,000 sq ft showroom – Trends Haus – is to be opened in Sitra.
“We have entered into a new venture with 20 of Germany’s largest furniture manufacturers to sell their products for projects only,” says R K Damani, managing director of the company.
Komandor designs, manufactures and installs wardrobes and kitchens. Its custom-built sliding wardrobes feature a contemporary style with a design that helps save space. They are available with either wood, glass or mirror shutters with a variety of features for internal fit-out. These cost-competitive wardrobes can be used in residential projects. The kitchens are purpose-built to customer requirements using moisture-resistant MDF (medium-density fibreboard) with top-of-the-line fittings such as soft closing options.

Despite the global financial downturn and being relatively new in Bahrain, Komandor Middle East has witnessed a growth in its market share over the past few years.
As part of its growth strategy, Komandor will be participating at gulfBID, where the company aims to create more brand awareness by showcasing its profile to its target audience of interior designers, contractors, and developers.
At the expo, Komandor will display its custom-made wardrobes and kitchens, in addition to the new range of durable lockers by the Singapore-based Besco. “Breaking away from conventional metal lockers, Besco lockers use high-pressure laminated (HPL) compact boards, which allow the lockers to be highly customised – from an extensive range of colours, dimensions, and accessories combination – to suit our clients’ requirements,” Damani says.
At gulfBID, the company will also be looking for potential distributors for its wardrobe system to cover the entire GCC region.
Originating from Poland, Komandor Middle East currently has its head office and production facility in Riffa but is in the process of relocating to a larger production facility in Sitra shortly.
Though Komandor primarily targets the retail sector, the company is presently involved in the Sunset Hills (Ahmed Mansoor Al’Ali) project and has recently completed the Kanoo Compound project.
Commenting on the impact of the slowdown, Damani says: “Each of the GCC states has been impacted differently during the crisis. Saudi Arabia has more or less maintained its growth in the construction field, while Bahrain and Qatar have been affected. Their stalled projects are now showing signs of resurgence and will hopefully pick up during the first quarter of 2011. In the case of Dubai, it will still be a few years before confidence returns to the market.”
Komandor will be present at Stand 2D01.
