GULF Plastic Industries (Gulfplas), a veteran plastic processor in the region, is set to make a major impact at gulfBID where it intends to create awareness of the latest developments within the company.
The company – one of the first industrial ventures established in Bahrain to manufacture thermoplastic pipes and fittings – has newly relocated to a state-of-the-art facility covering an area of 30,000 sq m in Bahrain International Investment Park in Hidd. It has also launched two new production lines.
“After the recent successful commissioning of the new polypropylene-random (PP-R) pipes extrusion line, we are now glad to introduce a new extrusion line to manufacture various sizes of MDPE (medium density polyethylene) and HDPE (high density polyethylene) pipes,” says a spokesman for the company.
“At gulfBID, we will not only promote these new products – namely PP-R, MDPE and HDPE – alongside our extensive line of products, but will also create awareness of our new facilities, our expanded capacity and our new branding under a new logo,” he adds.
Gulfplas manufactures uPVC (unplasticised polyvinyl chloride), cPVC (chlorinated polyvinyl chloride), PP-R, LDPE (low-density polyethylene) and HDPE pipes to internationally recognised standards including BS, ASTM, DIN, NEMA, AS and ISO recommendations, says the spokesman.
Since its establishment in 1968, GPI has been steadily increasing its production capacity by adding more production lines to meet its customer requirements.
Gulfplas is a leader in plastic technology and strives to retain this position. Quality has always been a cornerstone of its products, which are tested locally as well as in the UK, the US and Kuwait. In line with this focus, it received the prestigious ISO 9002:1994 certification in February, 2000, which was later upgraded to ISO 9001:2000 in October 2006.
The company has participated in various infrastructure, housing and communication projects in Bahrain, the most recent being Khalifa Bin Salman Hidd Port, Bahrain International Investment Park, Durrat Al Bahrain, Amwaj Islands, Bahrain Financial Harbour, City Garden, Bahrain World Trade Centre and Al Areen Water Park.
Gulfplas exports around 70 per cent of its output to various neighbouring countries such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, Jordan, Yemen, Oman, Pakistan and India, while the remaining 30 per cent is supplied to the local market. The company has a strong presence in Saudi Arabia through its associate firm – Plastic Products Establishment, based in Al Khobar.
The company has around 130 highly qualified professionals and skilled workers supervised by a proficient management team headed by Salman Ramadhan, general manager.
