Al Ma’awdah ... amongst Bahrain’s leading stockists of building materials.

RECOGNISING gulf-BID’s potential as a catalyst in clinching deals, one of Bahrain’s leading stockists and suppliers of building materials is returning to the show in anticipation of securing success, particularly with some of the leading brands it represents.

Al Ma’awdah Establishment aims to provide all building essentials under one roof, with its construction materials division being a leading stockist and suppliers of all types of building materials in Bahrain.
Part of the well-diversified Al Ma’awdah Group, Al Ma’awdah Establishment supplies lightweight thermal insulated blocks (Siporex), steel reinforcement bars, all types of wood, plywood, block boards, MDF (medium density fibreboard) boards, parquet flooring, paints, polishes and all types of furniture fittings.
At this year’s gulfBID, the company hopes to clinch deals for its Siporex and Kaindl products, says Alex Oommen, commercial manager.
The company has previously exhibited at gulfBID in 2006 and 2007.
Kaindl of Austria offers a range of parquet flooring products, including natural and laminated systems.
Al Ma’awdah construction division, which executes residential, commercial, high-rise and private villa projects, is the sole authorised agent responsible for design, marketing and distribution of the Siporex building system, produced by Saudi Arabia’s LCC Siporex.
“Siporex is the most practical, efficient and durable insulation system, providing complete thermal insulation for any type of building. It is a completely cured, inert and stable form of calcium silicate hydrate. Siporex is a structural material, which is approximately one quarter the weight of conventional concrete, composed of minute cells that give the material its lightweight and high thermal insulation properties,” he says.
Siporex’s range of products includes lightweight insulated blocks, vertical and horizontal panels, roof/floor slabs and box and wall panel-type lintels. These products are of autoclave aerated concrete, which have very low thermal conductivity and low density.
“The system is more efficient and economical than any other insulation system, as the overall time taken for a project could be reduced to as much as 20 to 50 per cent when compared to the conventional system.
“Siporex products’ advantages lie in their properties such as light weight, thermal insulation, fire resistance, good workability, dimensional accuracy and stability, speedy completion, reduced labour, factory-controlled quality, excellent surface finish and minimal maintenance,” Oommen adds.
Also part of the group is Al Ma’awdah Factory for Furniture and Carpentry, which manufactures of all types of wooden doors, door frames, architraves, staircase handrails, kitchen units, wardrobes, cabinets, furniture and decoration. Its state-of-the-art facilities enable 80 per cent of its manufacturing processes to be automated, resulting in mass production. The factory’s team of 50 workers comprises carpenters, painters and labourers.
Al Ma’awdah reinforcement division, a leading stockist and supplier of steel reinforcement bars from Qatar and Saudi Arabia, provides ready cut-and-bend steel.
Al Ma’awdah Establishment, set up in 1982 in Bahrain, has an annual turnover of $60 million to $100 million and has played a major role in key projects such as Bahrain City Centre, Bahrain International Racing Circuit, Shaikh Isa library, Bahrain Chamber of Commerce building, Zallaq Beach Resort Hotel, Era Tower, Durrat Al Bahrain and Riffa Views.
It will be present at Stand 1C41 at the expo.
