Massive ... the tanks are manoeuvred into place.

SEONG San Al Kobaisi (SAK), a joint venture firm set up by Bahrain’s Al Kobaisi Group and Korea’s Seong San, is currently engaged in tank erection works (Group Three) at Al Dur power station in Bahrain.

Under a contract worth more than $10 million, the company is responsible for the fabrication and erection of prefabricated permeate water tanks and lime DensaDeg tanks for the reverse osmosis (RO) plant at Al Dur.
Since the joint venture was set up last August, the company has won a number of deals in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar, in addition to the Bahrain project.
SAK specialises in mechanical, electrical, civil and insulation works.
“SAK’s services in mechanical construction are carried out through its fabrication workshops located in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain and supervised by highly experienced craftsmen,” says a company spokesman.
“SAK’s civil engineering services cover construction of commercial and residential high-rise buildings; infrastructure and area development works; highways, roads, street paving, bridges and culverts, land reclamation; precast work for high-rise and conventional and residential housing compounds and pre-engineered buildings for warehouses and factories.”
SAK also aims to tap the intensive growth that’s taking place in the power sector of the Middle East, he points out.
The company is capable of handling all types of electrical work in various fields like construction of medium to high-voltage power transmission lines ranging from 13 kV to 380 kV, substations and distribution networks, he says, adding that the company has formed a specialised team of insulation craftsmen for petrochemical plants and furnace buildings industries.
