DANUBE Building Materials is opening two new Buildmart stores in Dubai as part of a drive to expand its retail concept across shopping malls in the UAE.
Set to offer a wide range of reasonably-priced but high-quality interior fixtures, one of the new stores at the Ibn Battuta Mall was expected to be opened last month while the other is to open in Dubai Festival City in December. The two stores involved an investment of Dh20 million ($5.4 million).
With 57 malls and a further 42 under construction, Dubai ranks first among the emirates in terms of the number of retail developments, according to latest industry studies.
“The pervasive ‘mall culture’ in Dubai and the rest of the UAE has inspired us to launch this concept, which aims to leverage the market’s affinity to retail developments as a preferred retail destination,” said Rizwan Sajan, chairman, Danube Building Materials. “By making our products available in leading shopping centres, we hope to rope in potential customers looking for top-quality home fixtures in a place where they do the majority of their shopping.”
Danube is also looking at similar establishments in other emirates, as well. At present, the company is in the process of selecting the most strategic locations for additional Buildmart stores among the completed 18 retail developments and about 14 under construction in Abu Dhabi. Furthermore, Danube is also open to expanding in malls in Ras Al Khaimah, which houses two retail developments, and Fujairah, where there is currently one.
