Mabani Steel, the UAE-based manufacturer of pre-engineered steel buildings (PEBs), has announced the expansion of its Ras Al Khaimah factory, involving the construction of a new structural steel fabrication (SSF) facility with a monthly capacity of 2,000 tonnes of steel.
This follows the launch of work recently on a new factory in Saudi Arabia that will have monthly production capacity of 6,000 tonnes of PEBs and 2,000 tonnes of hot-rolled steel structures.
Says Muayyad Khudairi, president of Mabani Steel: “We have begun the construction of a new building at our Ras Al Khaimah site that will be dedicated to the fabrication of hot rolled steel structures and we are expanding our head office building to accommodate the additional engineering manpower requirements of our expansions, as estimating and engineering for both factories will be centralised in our Ras Al Khaimah head office.”
The company has ordered the structural steel fabrication equipment and intend to begin commercial production by January 2008. “We are already receiving inquiries for hot rolled steel structures and we expect to deliver our first hot rolled project by the end of January next year,” he says.
Khudairi continues: “Mabani Steel is the fastest growing manufacturer of PEBs in the history of this region. We are unique in our industry in this region because of our high level of transparency and customer service that greatly exceeds that of our competitors. We are the only PEB manufacturer in this region that is 100 per cent compliant with the latest US design codes that are applicable to our products. The leading PEB manufacturers in this region, some of whom were established more than 30 years ago, continue to use outdated less stringent US codes in order to squeeze more margins from jobs. We believe such practice to be unethical and we appeal to consultants and municipal approval authorities in this region to demand compliance with the latest US codes applicable to the design and manufacture of PEBs.”
Mabani Steel has three sales offices in the UAE (Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah), an office in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and an authorised builder in Muscat, Oman. It also plans to open sales offices in Dammam, Jeddah and Doha during 2008.
The company says it is the only PEB manufacturer in this region that has a dedicated estimating department and claims to have the fastest response to requests for quotation in this region. It offers erection services for its PEBs throughout the UAE and welcomes inquiries for the supply only or the supply and erection of PEBs and hot rolled steel structures from owners, consultants and contractors.
