Siemens eyes top Saudi contracts

German engineering firm Siemens said it was seeking more Saudi contracts after winning a $2.14 billion desalination and power plant contract in December.

“We have a very big power project now to execute but other projects are coming and Siemens is very well experienced in transportation, for example, in railway systems,” Heinrich Von Pierer, chairman of the firm’s supervisory board, said.
“We had discussions with some ministers in Riyadh, talked about future cooperation and new projects,” Von Perer said.
He said Siemens is now upgrading the signalling of Saudi Arabia’s sole rail link between Riyadh and Dammam.
