Turner Construction – International was recently awarded an extension to its work at the Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort in Muscat, Oman.

The contract includes providing project management services for the construction of 125 luxury residential units on the grounds comprising 75 apartments, 30 townhouses and 20 villas. 
The Barr Al Jissah Resort Company, a joint venture between the Zubair Corporation (60 per cent) and Government of Oman (40 per cent) recently soft opened all three hotels at the resort and spa.
As project manager, Turner led an international team of designers, contractors and consultants in the construction of this luxury resort project. These included Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo from the UK/US, WS Atkins along with Carillion from UK as well as Singapore-based Wilson & Associates and several specialist consultants. The operator, Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, currently manages a network of 47 hotels worldwide.
Situated on the shore of the Gulf of Oman, about 10 km south of Muscat, the resort property, enclosed by mountain ranges on two sides and the beachfront on the third, includes a total of 680 rooms and suites in three separate hotels, the Al Waha, Al Bandar and Al Husn.
The complex, built on 124 acres also includes a chi spa (Shangri-La’s signature spa), meeting and banquet facilities, an Omani heritage village, swimming pools, a lazy river ride and 19 food and beverage facilities.
