In line with its policy of ensuring environment-friendly manufacturing processes, Kuwait Insulating Material Manufacturing Company (Kimmco) last year invested $18 million on upgrading its equipment with the objective of complying with the most stringent European and US regulations.
Kimmco has also improved the elimination of greenhouse gases throughout the process and introduced a highly efficient fume washing system.
Since it was established in 1977, Kimmco has been keen on identifying and adopting the best practices for a clean, environment-friendly manufacturing process and its constant efforts were rewarded last February, when it received the ISO 14001 certification for its environment management system.
“Today, we are one of the few companies in the Middle East that fully comply with local as well as US EPA regulations,” says Alain David, general manager.
“As the Middle East largest insulation solution provider, we are already a major contributor in the environment protection efforts with the highest quality, cost-effective solutions that provide comfort while saving resources and energy,” he adds. “We work tirelessly to set an example for the environment-friendly business not only through the nature of our product but also through the manufacturing process itself.”
“Our achievements are also a result of a very close cooperation with our licensor, Isover Saint Gobain (ISG), the world leader in fibreglass insulation,” says Dr Kailash Chandra, technical manager. “From the upstream furnace to the chimney to the warehouse forklifts, we have worked together to identify sources of emissions and most efficient remedies.” “Our partnership with ISG is key to our success,” he adds.
Kimmco – a subsidiary of Alghanim Industries, one of the leading private sector trading and industrial groups both in Kuwait and the region – has been manufacturing and marketing high-quality thermal and acoustical insulation products worldwide for more than 25 years. The company has shown impressive growth in the last few years.
Alghanim Industries operates in many major activities such as trading and distribution of consumer electronics, food and consumables, automotive vehicles and products, industrial manufacturing, and engineering.
