Fiobco is a leading designer, manufacturer and installer of tensile membrane structures in Dubai, UAE. The tensile fabrics are made of HDPE knitted shade cloth, PVC-coated polyester and PTFE coated glass fabrics.
Fiobco will launch PVC fabric stretch ceilings during this year's Big 5 show.
'The stretch ceiling concept, pioneered in France, provides an exciting and cost-effective alternative to standard ceiling systems,' says a company spokesman.
A stretch ceiling has a uniform finish, takes on any shape and incorporates a discreet fixing system (with no visible corners). These ceilings - which allow the insertion of spotlights, suspended lights, ventilation and air-conditioning - come with a 30-year life span and 10-year warranty. They also come with sound and thermal insulation guarantees.
The system is fire resistant, bio-proof, non-flammable and non-corrosive.
A stretch ceiling covering 40 sq m can retain a weight of 500 litres of water and takes only four hours to install, says sales manager Sreekanth Gopi.
The product, which is competitively priced, is ideal for use in luxury villas, restaurants, nightclubs, shopping malls and airports, he says. Available in high gloss, satin and matt finishes, these ceilings can be illuminated from behind for better effect.
'Europe has a $450 million stretch ceiling industry and about 70 per cent of the demand originates from France,' the spokesman says. 'Four of the major manufacturers of the fabric are based in France. Although the UAE market has had a limited exposure to the product, the situation is set to change and the stretch ceiling industry in the Middle East could reach the size of the European market in a short span of time.'
Operating from its modern industrial unit in Dubai, Fiobco has been providing locally designed and manufactured tensile membrane structures for the construction market in the UAE and neighbouring Gulf countries. Fiobco provides turnkey solutions for shade structures.
Fiobco has been using state-of-the-art technology and highly sophisticated machinery for the design, manufacture and erection of tensile membrane structures, used primarily for the shading of large areas providing protection from the sun and ultra-violet radiation.
The company has more than more than 95 qualified employees working together to provide a high-quality service through all stages of design, manufacture and final site installation. 'Our in-house team of engineers guarantee a unique service of design built to meet the customer's requirements,' says managing director Ashley O'Brien.
Fiobco, which has executed more than 500 projects in the GCC since its inception a decade ago, attributes its success to superior quality, consistency and reliability and excellent customer service.
A recent project has been the Celebration Halls at Al Ain, where Fiobco has completed tensile roof structure for seven halls in sizes ranging from 1,800 sq m to 2,700 sq m, using Verseidag PTFE-coated glass fabric, worth $8 million. It has also been awarded an eighth hall.
Some of the other major projects executed by the company include tensile fabric shade structures for the Wild Wadi theme park, Dubai Internet City and Dubai Media City, Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Al Maha Desert Resort and Royal Meridien Hotel and several other projects mainly in the UAE.
