With the available exhibition space sold out and waiting lists put in place, it seems to be a bumper year for the Big 5 show, says dmg world media Dubai, the organiser of the show.
The Big 5 2003 show features 26 national pavilions and has brought in the participation of 1,200 companies for the five-day event (November 29 to December 3).
'The fair that will occupy all available space in the eight halls of the venue, will showcase the strong regional participation and the ever increasing demand for space from national pavilions,' said Bernard Walsh, managing director of dmg world media Dubai.
'Some 15 per cent more exhibitor stands, puts the number of exhibitors at a massive 1,200,' says Bob Hughes, project manager for the Big 5. As usual, these will be organised into seven distinct industry sectors, aimed at facilitating a targeted approach for visitors.
The seven sections to be featured at the show will include:
The event will showcase innovations; new products; agencies; global sourcing for suppliers and services and will serve as the annual meeting place for architects, engineers, contractors, traders, and commercial, public and private buyers.
The show has a lot to offer to the construction industry and will see the convergence of professionals, traders, contractors and specifiers from the building and construction industry. Visitors have various reasons to attend the event. 'While the importers, distributors and contractors visit the show with the purpose of meeting the manufacturers keen to do business in the region, overseas exhibitors arrive to familiarise with the professionals, developers and specifiers who commission the multi-million dollar projects,' says Walsh.
At the Big 5, global players will exhibit alongside more than 200 major contractors, importers and distributors from the GCC countries, who will exhibit their products and services on some of the most spectacular stands in the show. This year, the large UAE contingent will be joined by companies from all the other GCC countries, as well as Iran, Egypt, Lebanon and Syria.
Throughout the five days of the event, visitors are invited to attend the free technical seminars, which will be conducted by exhibitors at the Big 5 during the show. Experienced specialists will give presentations on new equipment, processes and technology in all aspects of construction and contracting. Says Walsh: 'The Big 5 is an institution in the Gulf - a well-understood concept for anyone involved in specifying or buying products or services for any aspect of building or construction.'
Two sections - water technology and environment, and marble/stone and machinery - will receive special attention at this year's show.
* A series of international conferences are being held in conjunction with the Big 5 show to examine three key sectors of the Middle East construction industry.
The Gulf Construction Conference Week, organised by Hilal Conferences and Exhibitions, will be staged at the Godolphin Ballroom of The Emirates Towers Hotel Dubai from November 29 to December 3. It features the Annual Aluminium and Glass Conference, the Annual Insulation Conference and the Annual Heating, Ventilation and Air-conditioning Conference.
The event is supported by Gulf Construction magazine.
