The Big 5

On the rise

UAE-based Danway, reputed in the field of electro-mechanical services and industrial projects, reports that its Access Systems and Cranes department has been doing well and maintaining its status as a leader in the market.

Portal and RTG cranes
Danway, which established 27 years ago in the UAE, has recently entered a tie-up with Vincsan - one of the leading crane manufacturers from Turkey in the field of gantry (portal) cranes, container lifting RTG cranes and heavy duty mill/billet cranes.

Says a spokesman for Danway: "The association with Vincsan is good news for the production industries, as well as shipyards and steel stockyards."

EOT cranes
Danway - in partnership with SWF Krantechnik - has enhanced its strength in the EOT (electric overhead travelling) cranes market. Its list of clients includes industrial units such as precast concrete, marble and pipe factories and government clients and utilities.

SWF Krantechnik is a leading company in the crane and lifting equipment segment. Located in Mannheim, Germany, the company was established in 1921 and is now a member of KCI Group in Finland.
"A complete quality system, as well as very strict production control, guarantees the demanding user that the company's Nova wire rope hoist - which was introduced two years ago - offers the highest possible standards of safety during operation," says the spokesman.

SWF has single hoists of 80-tonne capacity as well as CT trolleys with capacities of up to 400 tonnes.
SWF is also specialised in the supply of crane equipment for hazardous areas. The company now offers an explosive-proof variant to the Nova electric wire hoist range.

"The many innovative features of the Nova wire rope hoist - for example, its reduced weight and compact design, the optimum hook approach and the reduced maintenance costs - will also be offered for the explosion-proof version," he says.
The new hoists have a standard safe working load of 20 tonnes with higher loads available upon request. As with standard units, the explosion-proof Nova wire rope hoist will be foot mounted, monorail in normal as well as being available as low-headroom versions and double-girder trolleys.

"The explosion-proof protection class EEx de IIB T4 has been chosen as standard in order to cover approximately 95 per cent of all industrial explosion-proof applications. However, as an option, the company has also provided the protection class EEx de IIC T4. Both versions have been designed for Zone 1 as well as Zone 2," he says.
All the parts that go into the construction of the SWF explosion-proof wire rope hoists
correspond to the current ATEX 100a European regulations (directives 94/9/EG).

Access systems
Danway is considered a leader in the field of permanent access equipment (window cleaning equipment), and compact hydraulic aerial work platforms and boom lifts. The high-rise towers on the Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai and some of the towers coming up in the Dubai Marina are good references for Danway.

Danway is fast building up its reputation in the markets of Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Lebanon for its supplies and installation services. With its in-house capability, Danway can offer the full range of custom-made solutions to any type of window cleaning and access equipment in association with its European principals, says the spokesman.

These include the Falcon Spider machine, produced by E Falck Schmidt of Denmark which has nearly 40 years experience in the development and production of aerial access platforms.
The Falcon Spider is produced in working heights from 14 m to 55 m and is believed to be the highest compact platform in the world. All models are specially designed for maintenance work in tall buildings with narrow access and limited floor space, where compact, flexible and high-reaching platforms are required.

"Key features such as: compact design, flexibility, reliability, low weight, high-reach and maximum safety of the machine are valued by experienced users all over the world. The new features such as the automatic double-jib arm system, raising/lowering of triggers, and driving the Falcon Spider from the basket, all the Falcon Spider even quicker, and more user-friendly than ever before," he says.

Rental
Danway 's rental programme provides safe and cost-effective solutions related to temporary access requirement such as cradles, mast climbing platforms and material hoists.
The company offers a total turnkey solution on a hire basis to the contractor, based on the site conditions.

Service and maintenance
Danway offers service contracts for access and lifting equipment, which are renewable on a yearly basis.
"The complete installation, startup/commissioning, and the service/maintenance work are all carried out by Danway's experienced team of technicians and engineers, backed with the stock of important and emergency spares on all the equipment that are supplied and installed," he says.
