Steel detailing solution ... bocad-3D.

Belgium-based Bocad Service International, considered a leading provider of engineering and construction software, will promote its 3D CAD / CAM software for steel detailing and fabrication - bocad-3D as it debuts at the Big 5 show.

Bocad provides software solutions for the steel construction segment and guides customers at every step of their projects, be it engineering and designing, detailing, estimating, fabrication (numerical control piloting, stock and workshop management) or erection.

We develop and sell a computer software for steel detailing and fabrication and also provide a range of services such as technical assistance, training, installation, development,' says Devillers Sophie of Bocad.
'bocad-3D is profitable for every company, big or small and with single or complex projects, Sophie says.

The roots of bocad-3D are strongly anchored within the structural steelwork industry. The late 70s saw the birth of bocad-3D in Germany, primarily as an NC driver software package. This development was pioneered jointly by Bocad Software GmbH, the University of Wupertal and the German Government.

Developments throughout the 1980s saw the NC package evolving into a drawing office tool, providing users with the ability to produce fully detailed fabrication drawings.
Bocad believes strongly in entering into partnerships with all its customers, which allows them to be actively involved with the software from its initial research to final development. The result is a software that is tailor-made to suit the requirements of each individual organisation, the company says.

'bocad-A has been the reference software for steel construction projects such as buildings, factories, power plants, bridges, transmission towers, oil rings, tanks and ducting works, for more than 25 years.
The company currently employs more than 50 people and the number has been on the rise to meet the demand and also to provide efficient and quality service to our clients. It has achieved a turnover of $6.2 million in 2002.
Bocad enjoys a good level of business as it had succeeded increasing its list of clients as well as its turnover each year. The company is targeting steel construction companies and the engineering projects such as buildings, offshore or transmission towers.

Sophie says that Bocad is looking forward to increase its presence in the Gulf market and boost its sales in countries into which it has already made inroads. The company has been focusing on Iran and has also established a presence in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. 'Currently, we have two major clients in the UAE in the steel construction segment,' Sophie says.
Commenting on the Big 5, she says: 'The Big 5 is a major construction exhibition in the region and we look forward to introduce our products and also gain new business.'
