A joint venture of Darviche Haddad Prestressed Concrete Company (DHPCC) and Gifford Consulting Engineers was responsible for post-tensioning work for the three buildings in Phase 1-B of DIC.
DHPCC used the CCL stressing systems for the project.
Darviche Haddad is a specialist post-tensioning sub-contractor, originally established in Lebanon, with more than 45 years experience in this field. It has executed a number of post-tensioned buildings, bridges and water tanks structures in the UAE and other Gulf countries and operates throughout the Middle East.
Gifford and Partners is a British consulting engineering firm specialising in post-tension (PT) design, and was a pioneer in the British PT industry 50 years ago.
CCL stressing systems is recognised as an international pioneer and expert in the field of post-tensioned concrete.
With a worldwide presence and a long established product history, the CCL systems comply with the latest international specification standards - mainly the FIP recommendations.
As a JV team, Gifford and Partners and Darviche Haddad PCC/CCL have together been prominent in the field of pre-stressed concrete structures for many years, says Roland Asaker, manager of DHPCC.
The team has wide experience in the applications of both unbonded and bonded tendon systems, and was heavily involved with the introduction of post-tensioning into the building structures market of the UAE.
"We have given seminars to, and on behalf of Dubai Municipality, and have also advised them on drawing up suitable local industry standards," says Asaker.
"With a large specialist design and installation team - all based in Dubai and including well-qualified European personnel, the only team to offer this in the UAE - we are able to complete a full range of design and installation solutions including: bridges, flat slabs, beam and slab, ribbed, waffle, ground bearing and piled ground slabs, water tanks and transfer structures.

The joint venure's designs and installation works are completed to internationally-recognised standards and are carried out by professionally qualified engineers, according to Asaker. "We are proud of our reputation for a high quality service with a strong sense of achieving client satisfaction," he adds.
Some of its local partners include the Abu Dhabi-based Al Mureikhi Industrial Complex, a specialist in precast and prestressed elements which enjoys an excellent reputation in its field, he says.
