Dubai Internet City is yet another feather in the cap of Bond Communications, a leading electrical low voltage systems integrator in the Middle East and a multi-disciplinary organisation providing turnkey solutions integrating telecommunications, information technology, security, broadcast and interactive multimedia systems.

"Bond Communications has installed over 36,000 voice/data outlets for the Dubai Internet City Phase 1B and Dubai Media City Phase 2 projects - the only business partner of Avaya Communications, to be awarded another phase in the DIC/DMC projects," says Jason Abboud, business development manager of Bond Communications.

More than 2 million feet of copper/fibre cables have been installed to provide connectivity to the voice/data outlets. The infrastructure meets the Category 6 specifications, the latest standard in communication cabling.

Dubai Internet City, the internet hub of the Middle East, is growing to be the largest structured-cabling infrastructure in the world, with the GigaSPEED Systimax Structured Cabling System of Avaya Communications installed.

"The GigaSPEED solution supports Gigabit Ethernet requirements in terms of bandwidth, data throughput and network efficiency, enabling the user to operate more efficiently," Abboud adds.

Where high-speed communications requirements are to be met, OptiSPEED fibre cables are used as backbone, giving tenants access to broadband Internet gateways and server farms as well as Voice over IP (VoIP) applications. Flexibility for fibre-to-desk for ultra-high throughput requirements is also available in the premises.

"Each 8 sq ft area in the project is covered by eight voice/data outlets," says Geogy Ukken, operations and projects coordinator of Bond Communications.

Each office has its own consolidation points, which enables the tenant to set-up independent LAN/WAN/PABX networks. These consolidation points are connected to the building MDF (main distributin frames) through the floor IDF (intermediate distribution frames), finally connecting to the main DIC operations centre.

Bond Communications, established in 1989, offers its specialist services in the Middle East with its strategic partnerships with various leading companies worldwide.

Bond works closely with its clients to design, install and commission state-of-the-art technology projects designed to support and deliver the requirements. "We have adequate inventory of experienced trained personnel in various disciplines to execute the hi-tech projects without depending on sub-contractors," says Ukken.

"For major installations, Bond provide 24 hours manned on-site help desks involving itself in the day-to-day operations of the sophisticated systems in the property: Burj Al Arab to cite an example," Ukken adds.

Bond Communications, as the main electrical low voltage contractor, installed and commissioned the telecommunications, IT, security, automation, interactive multimedia and special guest facilities for the prestigious Burj Al Arab. It has also installed and commissioned the wireless LAN, paging and radio systems at the Burj Al Arab.

"Being a multi-disciplinary systems integration company we understand better the need for a peerless cabling infrastructure as we are in better position to anticipate the bandwidth requirements of the systems that may use the infrastructure," Ukken continues.

"We have installed and commissioned the world's second largest broadband telecommunications infrastructure in the tallest building of the Middle East, the Emirates Towers (office block). More than 8.5 million ft of copper/fibre cables have been installed, providing connectivity to over 60,000 data/voice outlets throughout the entire 51-storey office block and is capable of transmitting any data and voice communication protocols," say Abboud. "All our structured cabling installations are certified and warranted for 20 years by the manufacturer Avaya Communications."

The company's integrated solutions cover the following sectors:

  • Telecommunications;

  • IT and networking;

  • Hospitality;

  • Audio video and automation;

  • Language interpretation systems;

  • Security Systems;

    "While designing an infrastructure, we foresee the requirements of the client for the next 10 years. Bond recognises the requirements of the clients and provides them with the latest solutions available. Its clients range from world-renowned hotels and resorts, exclusive residential properties, intelligent office buildings, corporate headquarters, ports, oilfields, airports, government and banking sector etc.

    "Our on-going projects include Dubai Convention Center, Office Building, Concourse, Novotel and Ibis hotels at the Dubai World Trade Center where the Dubai 2003 IMF-World Bank summit is scheduled to be held. Bond is literally executing everything in low voltage systems in these projects." says Abboud. Apart from the above, Bond is currently executing the structured cabling for Capricorn Tower and Business Avenue Dubai, hotel interactive television system for Sheraton Jumeirah and The Grand Hyatt as well as automatic minibar system for The Grand Hyatt.

    Bond Communications is a one-stop shop for integrated electrical low voltage systems of any magnitude.
