Building hoist manufacturer Geda-Dechentreiter's new mast-climbing platform MCP 750/1500, is expected to be a highlight at its 420 sq m stand at bauma. The company is also unveiling its newly-developed crane hoist Geda-Combilift 2PK as well as elevators for industrial applications made by its US partner Champion Elevators.
"A real novelty" is how Geda describes the MCP 750/1500 mast-climbing platform, which is promoted as being low in price, easy to handle, transport, store, assemble and disassemble. This is because it is made of standard scaffold parts, giving the platform the additional name "electric scaffold", according to the company.
The supporting frame consists of individual lattice girders attached to each other via tube connectors. The floor is formed by scaffold planks. The lateral protection consisting of toe board, intermediate rail and handrail is hung into a vertical framework. This ensures quick erection and dismantling, while offering high safety and stability, the company says.
It is available in two versions: The MCP 750, a single mast version, with a load capacity of 750 kg and the MCP 1500, a twin mast platform, with a payload of 1,500 kg. The maximum platform length is 5.6 and 16.2 m respectively. Load and persons are safely lifted up 100 m at a speed of 9 m/min, the company points out.
The second new product, Geda-Combilift 2PK, is build in compliance with the European Machinery Directive and has been approved by the Dutch Liftinstituut. Geda has already received an order from the Netherlands for 35 units of this crane hoist.
The Geda-Combilift 2PK is a ladder hoist with rack and pinion drive which can transport 200 kg or two persons. The drive unit with 1.5 kW, 400 V, 50 Hz has a speed of 25 m/min ensuring that the crane operator reaches his workplace without any fatigue. The closed cage (dimensions 0.6 by 1.1 by 1.8 m, with Plexiglas panes) accommodates the control panel.
Due to its flexible system, the Geda-Combilift 2PK can be fixed to any crane. The fixing interval is 4 m.
Sharing Geda's stand for the first time will be its US partner, Texas-based Champion Elevators, which manufactures high-quality elevators for a variety of industrial applications.
bauma 2001 will see the launch of the first, jointly-developed new personnel elevator Geda-Champion 30P. This hoist is available with single or twin cage, each cage having a load capacity of 2,850 kg or 30 persons. The inside dimensions of the cage are 1.42 by 3.76 m.
''The hoist is completely galvanised and built according to EN 12159. It can be erected up to 200 m, the travelling speed is 40 m/min. Stability is given by a mast taken from the Champion standard range,'' says Renate Dworschak, a spokesperson for Geda.
The same mast is the basis for another new product, the heavy-load mast-climbing platform Geda-MCP 2000/4000 with a payload of 2,000 and 4,000 kg respectively. The maximum platform lengths are 12 and 34 m. It is of nearly the same construction as the MCP 750/1500, but due to the mast sections used, the MCP 2000/4000 is free-standing up to a height of 22 m.
Geda claims it offers the largest programme among all building hoist manufacturers, ranging from 60 kg to 4,000 kg payload.
