
GLOBAL engineering group and airport systems integrator Cavotec has secured a contract to supply advanced ground support equipment for the new Emirates Engineering Centre A380 line maintenance hangars at the Dubai International Airport.
Under the terms of the contract with leading construction contractor A + P (Cyprus), Cavotec will supply, install and commission in-ground pop-up utility pits and pre-conditioned air (PCA) units for four new A380 line maintenance hangars at the centre. Delivery is due to start in Q2 this year, with commissioning slated at the end of 2013.
Emirates Engineering Centre is one of the largest and most advanced aviation maintenance centres in the world having the largest single free-spanning roof structure in the Middle East. With the new addition of four line maintenance hangars, the centre will offer 12 hangars spanning an area of 55 hectares on the northern side of Dubai International Airport.
