THE South African company that supplied the thatched roofs for bungalows and villas on the Lebanon World Island of the Dubai World development is hoping its environment-friendly and sustainable roofing systems can now take the UAE by storm.

Cape Reed Group of Companies, which is now in the final stages of supplying Sofitel Palm Jumeirah Resort with 7,500 sq m of thatched roofs, is confident the unique natural offering has the exact mix needed to benefit the residents of the region.

“The biggest benefit of a thatched roof certainly has to be the unique insulation properties that it offers,” said Cape Reed managing partner, Van Heerden, who presented the thatched roof at the recent Outdoor Design Build and Supply expo in Dubai.
