BANIYAS Investment and Development Company (BID), the investment arm of the Baniyas Sports Club, has announced that three contractors are working simultaneously on its Bawabat Al Sharq (BAS) project, a Dh3-billion ($816.72 million) mixed-use development in Bani Yas City.

The contractors are Al Jaber Group, for infrastructure works, Bauer International for soil improvement, and Royal International Construction (RIC), the main contractor for Phase Two.

Al Jaber Group has finished 75 per cent of the roads embankment of Phase One, 25 per cent of the storm water and sewage networks, 50 per cent of the external electricity and 25 per cent of the mall external parking area.

To ensure smooth operations and execution of overall work and to complete the entire infrastructure of Phase One before the end of July, Al Jaber Group assigned a team of specialised employees to this prestigious project supported by a fleet of equipment.

In addition to infrastructure work, the backfilling works of Phase Two has been completed with Bauer International deploying the latest technologies while working on soil improvement which is expected to be completed within three months.

Royal International Construction has started laying the foundations for 58 villas, 35 per cent of which were expected to be complete last month.

BID’s CEO Wael Tawil said: “We look forward to handing over Phase One villas and apartments to their owners and to the inauguration of the BAS Mall as soon as infrastructure works are completed.”

Baniyas had awarded the Dh190-million ($51.72 million) Phase Two contract to Royal Internationa
l in February and the contractor is going full speed ahead with the work.

The Dh205-million ($55.80 million) infrastructure contract for the three phases of BAS, which are expected to be completed in June 2012, was awarded to Al Jaber Group by Abu Dhabi Municipality last December.

BID also launched 153 spectacular Andalusian villas in Phase Three of Bawabat Al Sharq at Cityscape Abu Dhabi last month.

Spread over 108 hectares in Baniyas City, Bawabat Al Sharq is an ideal mix of modern residential, retail, entertainment and sporting facilities.
