Aecom, a leading provider of professional technical and management support services for government and commercial clients around the world, has been awarded a six-year, $149.3-million contract to provide programme management services to the New Doha Port in Qatar.

Being undertaken by the Government of Qatar, the $7-billion port is currently the world’s largest greenfield port-development project.
The port is intended to better position Qatar to benefit from the expected regional growth in container and vehicle carrier traffic as well as general cargo traffic.
“This exciting project to develop a new port facility in support of the rapidly growing economy and infrastructure of the Middle East provides an excellent example of how Aecom is able to leverage our global expertise and presence to serve our clients,” comments Aecom president and chief executive officer John Dionisio.
Experts from Aecom’s industry-leading global transportation and programme management practices will be joined by the company’s local design experts on this new port facility project.
With more than 3,000 employees serving clients in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Qatar, Aecom is one of the largest design and programme management firms in the Middle East.
Aecom serves clients in more than 100 countries and had a revenue of more than $4.7 billion during the 12-month period ended June 30, 2008.
