Del Monte Factory in the UAE ... a Blucher project.

Blucher Metal of Denmark, a regular exhibitor to the Big 5 since 2002, is all set to launch a new range of drainage systems at this year’s show following the opening of its Middle East office in Dubai last February.

“One of the products that are being launched by the company is the completely new and innovative design drains for luxury bathrooms,” says Jesper Larsen, Denmark-based area sales manager for the stainless steel drainage systems manufacturer.
“Under this range, we will be introducing square and triangular point drains as well as slender bathroom channels with design gratings in six different patterns.”
Apart from the design drains, Blucher will also use the occasion to promote its existing popular range of systems that include: floor drains for housing, commercial and industrial applications, drainage channels for industrial applications, and the Blucher EuroPipe drainage pipework system.
“As a regular participant at the show over the recent past, we highly value the well-organised exhibition and the large number of visitors to our stand,” says Larsen.
“This exhibition has been serving as a very important meeting point for the building and construction industry of the Middle East and as one of the best venues for us to introduce our stainless steel drainage products to new contacts from the entire region,” he adds.
A market leader in Denmark, Blucher has seen an increase in sales in all its segments and markets and is focusing on further increasing the services it offers and expanding the markets for its high-quality drainage solutions.
Commenting on the regional market, he says: “We see a good potential in the GCC region for our drainage products, and for the moment we are focusing our efforts on the UAE.”
The company has already supplied its high-quality products to some of the leading projects in Dubai that include: a palace for chairman of Dubai Municipality, Dubai Mall, Emirates flight kitchen, City Centre Deira, MY Platinum Yacht, Del Monte factory, Almarai Dairy, and the Ibn Battuta Mall.

Modular system
Being a modular system comprising floor drains, drainage channels and a pipework system — all of which can be combined, the Blucher stainless steel drainage system offers numerous possible combinations and a solution to any drainage project, says a spokesman. “In addition to the comprehensive standard product range, design and production of customised drainage products is also offered on request.”
Blucher stainless steel drainage products have been installed in bathrooms, commercial and industrial facilities and in maritime applications worldwide over the past 40 years. For single-occupancy showers, a series of elegant design drains with grates in six different patterns is available, he adds.
“Hotels, restaurants, supermarkets and hospitals can enjoy the advantages of the easy-to-install and lightweight drains, channels and piping. Industries such as food-processing, breweries and pharmacy depend on the excellent hygienic and flow capacities of its heavy-duty drains and channels. And on cruise vessels and luxury yachts, the efficiency of its stainless steel sanitary discharge system is highly valued,” he adds.
The spokesman continues: “Compared to the materials traditionally used for drainage systems such as cast iron or plastics, stainless steel offers the advantages of excellent hygienic properties, easy cleaning and maintenance, durability, favourable life span costs as well as ease and speed of installation.”

High strength
“The drains benefits from one of the important attributes of stainless steel — it has an extremely smooth surface providing fast flow, preventing deposits and minimising bacterial growth,” says the spokesman. “Due to the high strength and durability of stainless steel, less material thickness is required, reducing the weight of stainless steel drainage products by about 20 per cent as compared to cast iron, and this contributes to the ease of installation.”

Non-combustible
“In addition, stainless steel can withstand a high degree of vibrations and it functions within a wide scale of temperatures,” he continues. “Being able to withstand temperatures of more than 800 deg C, stainless steel is a highly fire-resistant material and requires no further fire protection. Unlike plastic pipework systems, the Blucher EuroPipe drainage pipework system does not require any fire collars and will not cause spread of fire and in the event of fire, no hazardous fumes will be emitted from the pipes. Stainless steel is also a fully recyclable and non-toxic material.”

Quality material & design
“The Blucher stainless steel drainage system enhances these inherent advantages of stainless steel through sophisticated product design and carefully prepared technical solutions,” says the spokesman. “Blucher drainage products are made entirely from high-performance austenitic stainless steel grade AISI 304 or, for the most demanding corrosive environments, grade AISI 316L. All products are chemically descaled and passivated to enhance their natural corrosion resistance and to provide a uniform matt-silver surface finish.”
Established in 1965, the Denmark headquartered manufacturer operates in the region through Blucher Middle East located in Dubai, with Veeresh Shirigannavar as it area sales manager. With its manufacturing facility located in Europe, the company has over 300 employees and has set up five subsidiaries in Europe along with own sales representations in several European countries.
The company has been a leading manufacturer of stainless steel drainage systems comprising high-quality point and linear drainage complemented by a full range of stainless steel push-fit pipework system.
Although a manufacturer of modular drainage systems offering numerous possible combinations and a solution to any drainage project, Blucher also offers customised solutions on request.
The company has also been continually improving on products as well as production technology to keep up with the requests from its markets, says Larsen.
Blucher will exhibit at Stand MC 6.
