Conren International’s success in the waterproofing market has been further cemented this year, mainly due to the efforts of its Dubai-based agent and applicator — Al Shirawi Contracting Company, says a company spokesman.
“2007 has been a fantastic year for our waterproofing sales into Dubai,” says Veronica Dawson, export manager for Conren, a UK-based manufacturer of industrial coating systems. “In fact, we will have supplied more than 300 tonnes of Rooftex liquid waterproofing by the end of this year, a feat not achieved since 1996. This represents approximately 25 per cent of the total waterproofing we have supplied worldwide.”
“Al Shirawi has been very successful in the promotion of the material, and it has worked closely with local architects and consultants to ensure Rooftex continues to be specified for numerous local projects, including the recently-completed Hotel Qamardeen (in Burj Dubai Downtown),” she adds.
Last year, Al Shirawi completed a number of other projects with Rooftex including the Dragon Mart, Al Nasr Palace, the Mall of the Emirates Hotel and Madinat Jumeirah.
Conren is planning to capitalise on this success it has achieved in the region through its tie-up with Al Shirawi at the Big 5 show, when it will be exhibiting as part of the Welsh delegation.
“The Big 5 gives Conren an opportunity to showcase its entire range of construction products, all of which are manufactured in the UK conforming to strict ISO 9001 quality standards,” says Dawson. “The success of Rooftex has provided us with a springboard from which we hope to capitalise on the opportunities available in the surfacing market.”
“Ever since its introduction in the market in 1976, Rooftex has been a phenomenal success,” she says. “A single-component cold-applied, polyurethane-based liquid, Rooftex provides an extremely durable waterproofing membrane, suitable for use in numerous applications, ranging from foundation waterproofing, wet area works, podiums and planters, and roof areas,”
Over the years, Rooftex has come to be firmly acknowledged as a market leader in the field of waterproofing on a worldwide basis and Conren has established a formidable reputation for its products and, with the assistance of a team of exclusive agents and distributors, continues to be involved in numerous prestigious projects, Dawson adds.
Conren has agents and distributors in around 20 other countries, including Hong Kong, Macau, South Africa, Brazil, Mexico, Algeria, and most of the Gulf states. Each agent has an exclusive territory, and all Conren materials, including Rooftex, can only be purchased through the agent or direct from the UK.
