Construction Fastening Systems (CFS) will be promoting a wide range of anchoring and screw fastening systems, direct fastening as well as a selection of power tools when it makes its debut at the Big 5 show this year.
A privately-owned company, CFS specialises in manufacturing and marketing quality fixing and fastening solutions for concrete, masonry, and steel.
“CFS can provide solutions to all fastening needs at the jobsite. Our products are recognised as conforming to the latest building codes and requirements,” says a spokesman.
CFS delivers fastening solutions in four different categories — anchors, chemical, powder and carbide — each offering both cost saving and design advantages for the contractor and engineer.
“Our commitment to development provides the industry with innovative anchoring solutions, drilling technologies and places our customers with the greatest competitive advantage — choice,” says the spokesman.
Understanding fixings & fasteners
“In trying to understand the basics of fixings and fasteners, the most basic concept would be the difference between the two,” says the spokesman. “While a fastener joins together two existing elements or parts, a fixing attaches a moveable element to a fixed one. This is only a general rule and there are many exceptions and the terms are often used interchangeably. Fasteners are usually classified as threaded (for example, nuts, bolts, screws and studs) and non-threaded (for example, nails, rivets, pins and washers).
“When choosing a fastener, there are a few factors that must be taken into consideration,” says the spokesman.
These include functions, properties, in-place cost, requirements of the fastener, method of assembly, the parts to be assembled and the method of integration into the assembly process.
He adds: “However, specifying a fastener would be a different story and would consist of the following: generic dimensional standard for the fastener required; head style and drive; thread type; diameter of the fastener (shank diameter); length of the fastener (may be overall length or length under the head depending upon the dimensional standard); and the decorative or protective finish required.
Quality conscious
“At CFS, we are quality conscious,” says the spokesman. “We help fasten concrete,
block, brick, steel and drywall every day. Manufacturing precision tools and fasteners for the professional contractor all begins with a knowledgeable staff of devoted people.
“Our products cover the full traditional anchoring range while specialising in innovative products that provide the architect, engineer and end-user with aesthetic, high-performance and labour-saving fastening solutions.
“Our customers are the users and specifiers of concrete fasteners. We market with professional distributors who share the same vision: selling innovative solutions to fastening problems. We are committed to excellence in innovation, total quality, direct customer relationship and effective marketing. At every step of the way, there are CFS people making this vision become a reality,” he concludes.
