An ergonomic chair that has been specifically designed for workers who spend long hours on their seats has been launched by the Dubai-based Bafco, a pioneer in office furniture systems.
Making its regional debut in Dubai, the award-winning Freedom Chair from Humanscale – leading manufacturer of ergonomic products for the office – offers new-found freedom to workers, says Bafco.
Humanscale entered the task seating market in 1999 with the Freedom Chair, which has already won eight design awards to-date.
“Freedom Chair is not just an ordinary product – there is so much more to it. It is based on the idea that movement – which is essential for a healthy body – shouldn’t be restricted by locking mechanisms,” explains Janni Bezuidenhout, sales and marketing manager for Bafco.
The chair features advanced technology and requires only one adjustment to be made to suit the user’s requirement, after which it responds to the natural movement of his body.
“Its mechanical back support is designed to slide and shift with the user’s weight,” Bezuidenhout explains. “This makes the support stay constant regardless of how the chair moves.
‘‘What makes Freedom Chair more special,” he continues, “is its cushioning material made of TechnoGel, a substance similar to silicone. Used in Europe with amputees to cushion and point where prosthetics and limbs meet, this special material is sculpted to closely follow body contours on the Freedom Chair to provide ultimate comfort.
“Besides these health benefits, Freedom Chair is stylish and has quickly gained popularity with set decorators in both TV and film.”
Quoting Interiors & Space magazine, Bezuidenhout points out that approximately 90 per cent of office workers use computers and 40 per cent work on computers at least four hours a day. The simple dangers of repetitive stress injuries – more commonly known as musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), increase if the computer is used for even just one hour a day.
Bafco has been in the office furniture business since 1983 and has captured the bulk of the market. Over the years, it has more than doubled its workforce to meet the growing demands of the construction industry.
“Bafco does not just focus on distributing chairs or office tables. It cares about the people who work in that space and try to come up with stations that are healthy and that can motivate them more to function well,” says Bezuidenhout.
Given its unique products and flair for designing and reinventing office spaces, many clients are booking Bafco’s services to create the ultimate office environment, he says.
The company has its own design team that transforms any office space into a work of art. Whether minimalist or modern themed, Bafco’s creative team brings out the most out of a work space to make it sleek and stylish.
“It is very important for us to listen to what our clients need and suggest what is best for them. Different offices have different needs and that provides us tonnes of ideas on how we can make over an existing space or create them out of nothing,” adds Bezuidenhout.
The company has numerous clients and has recently completed a project for Madinat Jumeirah. The sheer number of its customers speaks of Bafco’s reputation in the office furniture systems industry.
