Established in 1998, the Dammam-based Saudi Tire Recycling Company (Satreco) is a major producer of safety surface tiles for sport and industrial facilities.

The company, which will be showcasing its products at SaudiBuild in Riyadh for the second time this year, aims to build on the response from its participation at last year's event.

General manager Shaye Al Shaye says the company received a good response at SaudiBuild 2001.

"It was our first participation and we clinched some deals during the show," says Shaye.

"Being a new company, we would like to continue our participation in forthcoming exhibitions."

He says the company has made steady inroads into the local market where it sells 80 per cent of its products with the remaining exported outside the Kingdom.

The company is a major recycler of old tyres in the kingdom, turning millions of tyres each year into marketable and environmentally-friendly products and applications.

Satreco's range of products include coloured non-laminated, EPDM finished and flocked rubber tiles, playground tiles and freckle sport tiles and flocked floor mats. It also makes a range of traffic and parking accessories and produces crumb rubber in various sizes.

The products are made at a modern factory at the Dammam Second Industrial Area which is spread over an area of 18,500 sq m. The facility is equipped to process over million tyres per year. It is supported by two mobile shredders located in the central and western provinces.

Satreco is also taking part in this year's Saudi Building and Interiors Exhibition (SBIE) in Jeddah and the Big 5 show in Dubai, UAE.
