
Shairco For Trading, Industry and Contracting will be showing off a range of fibreglass and thermoformed products at SaudiBuild 2002.
The multifaceted Jeddah-based firm has been involved in the production and distribution of products for the building and construction industry for over three decades.
''We manufacture and trade in a wide range of products, from polycarbonate sheets and thermoformed domes to fibreglass poles and institutional furniture,'' says a company spokesman.
Shairco's skylight division markets Lexan polycarbonate sheets from GE of the US. Additionally, it offers silicones from GE's silicone division, skylight and glazing systems from Gallop of Cyprus and roof glazing and cladding solutions fromTwinflix of the UK.
''We can supply and install thermoformed pyramids and domes in various shapes up to a maximum size of 2,000 by 2,000 mm,'' the spokesman says.
In the Kingdom, the division has worked on hundreds of commercial, residential and industrial projects, including major ones such the Al Moaikelia commercial centre in Riyadh (440 domes), the Al Darraja shopping centre in Jeddah (4,000 sq m skylight), the Al Faisaliah Center's shopping complex (1,500 sq m of domes and a vault), Al Ahli Sports Club in Jeddah (pool and restaurant shades), the Al Adwani General Hospital in Taif (walkway bridge) and the National Commercial Bank in Jeddah (security glazing).
Its other areas of specialisation cover aluminium profiles, decorative and renovation work on areas such as false ceilings, the manufacture of light covers, electroplating and gate glazing.
Shairco Fibreglass is involved in the manufacture and supply of streetlight fibreglass poles and a range of institutional furniture for airline offices, travel agencies, airports, hospitals, banks, shopping malls and restaurants.
The furniture ranges from nursing stations for hospitals to reservation, ticket counters and seats for airports and airline offices.
''At the King Khaled International Airport in Riyadh, Shairco designed, manufactured and installed all the counters, passenger handling systems and peripherals,'' the spokesman says. ''And at the King Fahad International Airport in Dammam, which is one of the most modern airports in the world, Shairco installed 67 check-in counters, 22 double-station passport counters, five information kiosks, 26 telephone booths and 642 GRP planters.''
Other major airport projects include the Tunis-Carthage International Airport in Tunisia, where a wide range of Shairco products were installed, the Kuwait International airport (44 check-in counters), the Sharjah, Fujairah and Ai Ain international airports in the UAE and the Khartoum International Airport in Sudan.
Shairco's fibreglass factory in Yanbu is said to be one of the largest of its kind in the world.
