Hunter turns UAE green

Hunter's tailor-made irrigation solutions in operation in Dubai.

Hunter Industries, a specialist in irrigation products, is playing a vital role in greening the UAE through its tailor-made solutions that are ideally suited for the region’s extreme climatic conditions, says Hunter’s regional manager Hanna Zaidan.

“Establishing and maintaining the landscaping in the Gulf region is not an easy task, as one has to contend with not only the obvious challenges of the sandy soil and temperature variations, but also winds and the limited water resources. However, while this task is difficult, it is not impossible thanks to Hunter Industries’ rugged and reliable products,” Zaidan adds.
Hunter high-performing products were first introduced to the UAE more than 15 years ago, when its dependable I-41 and I-31 pop-up rotor sprinklers were installed at some major projects such as Al Mamzar Park, Safa Park, and the Dubai Exiles Rugby Club.
“The latter project earned the distinction of being the first turf-grass rugby pitch in the region,” Zaidan comments. “Prior to that, a typical rugby pitch in Dubai was nothing more than a dusty field, for the simple reason that growing high-quality grass was difficult in the local climate.”
“Today, 15 years later, these rotors are still keeping each of these beautiful projects lush and green,” he points out.
Over the years, Hunter has gathered an impressive project portfolio and has been a part of many prestigious developments in the UAE. The new Abu Dhabi Corniche, landscaping on part of Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai, and the Al Ain Civic Centre in the City of Al Ain are among the more recent projects where Hunter products have been installed to enhance the landscaping.
Hunter is also currently associated with one of Nakheel’s high-profile projects, The International City – where it is providing a comprehensive range of spray pop-ups, gear drive pop-ups, electric solenoid valves, and controllers. “All of these products are linked through a highly sophisticated central control system to achieve maximum water efficiency and the best results for the resources available,” Zaidan says.
He continues: “With more products launched every year and continuous improvements on existing products, Hunter has continued to provide a range of irrigation products specifically designed to suit the landscaping conditions in the UAE. The critical use of reliable pressure regulation, excellent water distribution and proven sprinkler reliability are all key contributors that have made Hunter a preferred choice.
“At present, Hunter products are trusted for turf and landscape irrigation for commercial and municipal projects in the UAE. Not only is the Hunter brand held in high esteem for the performance of its products, it also maintains an excellent reputation for dependable and reliable after-sales technical support.
“Hunter rotors and sprinklers can be counted on for their reliability in sandy soil and challenging water conditions. Before the products leave the factory, they undergo a battery of tests at the Hunter manufacturing facility’s on-site test laboratory. These tests simulate actual site conditions, exposing the rotors to dirty water, sand, temperatures extremes, and intense ultraviolet rays.”
“By the time the products leave the factory, they are ready for the worst that the real world can dish out,” Zaidan concludes.
