The Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu is currently reviewing the only proposal received for its Phase III desalination and power plant in Jubail.

A consortium of Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Company (formally Hanjung) and the National Engineering Services & Marketing Company (Nesma) submitted a base proposal for 70 MW and 50,000 cu m a day and an alternate proposal for 110 MW and 50,000 cu m a day.

All other companies that purchased the bid documents declined to submit proposals, a report said. The project has a two-and-a-half year construction schedule and is expected to be awarded this year in order to provide the required water to the Jubail Industrial City in the summer of 2004.
