
The UAE Ministry of Public Works and Housing will carry out 56 new projects at a total cost of Dh1.192 billion ($320 million), it was reported.
Besides this, a total of 95 ongoing projects worth Dh2.691 billion are under completion.
Of the new projects, 32 belong to the Ministry of Interior, including construction of premises for the traffic and authorisation department and the Ohlaa police station, both in Fujairah.
There are 21 projects for the Ministry of Interior under completion, including five civil defence premises, one telecommunication building at the Police Training School, five passport control points at the UAE borders and the central jail in Ras Al Khaimah, the report said. The total cost of the projects for the Ministry of Interior was about Dh214 million.
Sixty-eight projects worth Dh821 million are for the Ministry of Education and Youth. They include construction of 22 schools and 10 kindergartens.
Other 27 projects are under completion, including three preparatory schools, one high school and three technical schools in Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah respectively, the report said.
A total of 19 projects were for the Ministry of Health, including the construction of new hospitals in Dubai, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah, in addition to the building of health centres in other emirates.
The ministry is also constructing buildings for courts in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Sharjah for the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Auqaf, besides the construction of mosques and other projects at a total cost of Dh85.45 million.
Projects worth Dh63 million for the Ministry of Finance and Industry include expansion of the ministry's building in Abu Dhabi, the report said.
Five projects costing Dh35 million are for the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. Two projects costing Dh65 million would be executed for the Ministry of Transport covering construction of alternative roads between Sharjah-Ras Al Khaimah and Dubai-Fujairah, while a project costing Dh1.4 million was for the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, the report said.
