The Metito plants at Hamriyah.

Metito (Overseas) Limited has installed two mobile containerised water treatment plants in Sharjah to ensure water supply for industrial and drinking purposes at Hamriyah.

The plants were installed on behalf of Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa).

The company, which has its headquarters for Africa, Asia and Europe in Sharjah, said the two units are capable of providing 1,000 cu m of water daily.

These units bring to seven the number of Metito plants now operating at Hamriyah City which use reverse osmosis technology for desalinating brackish well water and delivering a guaranteed supply of fresh water.

Metito managing director Fady Juez said: "As a Sharjah-based company we are delighted to have the opportunity to use our expertise and technology to help Sewa. Metito developed a containerised reverse osmosis water purification system that is specially designed for use at remote locations and worksites such as Hamriyah where mobility and ease of installation are critical."

The containerised units are highly automated and do not require special skills to be operated, making them ideal for remote areas where there are few technical personnel. The units contain pre and post-treatment systems.

"Metito's long experience in water treatment in the Middle East means that our containerised systems are designed to operate successfully in the harshest of environments and are fully tested before we install them on site," said Juez.

The seven units now in place provide 3,500 cu m of water a day for Sewa to serve the demands of users at Hamriyah City.

Metito is a leading international provider of wastewater treatment and desalination plants to water supply projects. It has a factory and laboratory facility in the Hamriyah Free Zone.

The company was founded in 1958 by Farouk Ghandour, its chairman, and it has project management capabilities to undertake similar, larger projects worldwide.
