The stunning Burj Al Arab ... heated water from Rycroft.

BRITISH water heating specialist Rycroft is in hot demand, so to speak, at the world's tallest hotel in Dubai, UAE.

The company's hi-tech calorifiers were installed to provide hot water for the Burj Al Arab described as the first seven-star hotel in the world, says company spokeswoman Nicola Marlow.

She elaborates: ''The stunning Burj Al Arab tower, where guests pay up to £2,000 a night, is the tallest hotel on the planet and boasts an incredible 190-m-high atrium and a gleaming facade made from Teflon-coated glass fibre. The whole towering structure was designed to look like an Arab sailing vessel and is set on a man-made island in the Arabian Gulf connected to the Dubai coast by a 280-m causeway. Chauffeur-driven white Rolls-Royces ferry guests back and forth along this route, but only those who choose not to use the helipad on the 28th floor.

''The comfort of guests in such a luxurious hotel cannot be left to chance, which is why state-of-the-art water heating technology, supplied by Bradford-based manufacturer Rycroft, was specified.

''As many as 13 copper-lined, electrically heated storage calorifiers were shipped direct from Rycroft's factory to the site under the supervision of main contractor BK Gulf and design consultant WS Atkins.

Providing an impressive combined total of 1,395 kW of heating capacity, the calorifiers are providing hot water for some of the most expensive baths and showers in the world.''
