BIM software adopted for Sorbonne University project in Abu Dhabi.

TEKLA Middle East, part of the Finnish Tekla Corporation, intends to promote its renowned building information modelling (BIM) software when it makes its debut at Saudi Build this month.

“With its software, Tekla drives the evolution of digital information models and thus provide more and more competitive advantages to the construction and infrastructure industries,” says Omar Al Moutlak, marketing manager – building and construction for Tekla Middle East.

Tekla aims to multiply the potential of its customers to think and achieve big and provides an accurate, detailed, and data-rich 3D building information modelling software environment that can be shared by contractors, structural engineers, steel detailers and fabricators, as well as concrete detailers and manufacturers, he says.

The highly-detailed as-built structural models created, combined and distributed with Tekla BIM software enable the highest level of constructability and production control. “Centralising building information into the model allows for more collaborative and integrated project management and delivery,” says Al Moutlak. “This translates into increased productivity and elimination of waste, thus making construction and buildings more sustainable.”

The company is committed to research and development (R&D) – an area in which it invests more than 25 per cent of net sales.

At Saudi Build, Tekla will be showcasing its Tekla BIMsight and Tekla Structures BIM software.

The Tekla BIMsight software for model-based project cooperation is available free of cost for anyone to install and start using from the Internet. This easy-to-access application presents a complete construction project including all necessary building information from different construction disciplines.

“Tekla BIMsight is much more than a new Tekla viewer. You can communicate using the building information model with anyone, not just Tekla Structures or other BIM software users,” explains Al Moutlak.

Tekla Structures, meanwhile, enables the creation and management of accurately detailed, highly constructible 3D structural models, regardless of material or structural complexity. Tekla models can be used to cover the entire building process from conceptual design to fabrication, erection and construction management.

“Tekla Structures is one product available in different configurations and localised environments that provides a specialised set of functionality to suit the segment and culture-specific needs of the construction industry including steel detailing, precast concrete detailing, construction management, and engineering,” he points out.

Tekla Corporation, established in 1966, deals in two business areas – building and construction, and infrastructure and energy. It has its headquarters in Espoo, Finland, a global presence with offices in Finland, Sweden, Denmark, the UK, France, Germany, the US, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, China, India and the UAE; and an extensive network of partners around the globe. Tekla became part of the Trimble Group in July last year.

Tekla’s customers are spread in 100 countries. Some 500 people work for the company, 200 of whom are employed in area offices. Its Middle East office is located at Dubai Internet City, the UAE.

Tekla will be exhibiting at Stand 135-3 at Saudi Build.
