National Glass Industry (NGI) expects to complete supply this month of high-performance glass that will be used for the glazed façade of the Prime Minister’s Court in the heart of Manama, Bahrain.
“This prestigious landmark enjoys high visibility and we are proud to be associated with it,” says Amjad Hussain, CEO and managing director of the Ras Al Khaimah-based NGI.
The double-glazing units are being supplied to Bahrain-based Aluminium Services, which is utilising the Technal aluminium system for the structural glazing.
“We are supplying 6,000 sq m of glass, valued at Dh1.5 million ($408,720) for the project. It includes 8-mm-thick, high-performance Guardian RB20 with 8-mm-thick Guardian Neutral 60 glass with a 16 mm gap in between,” he says. “We have been supplying the project directly from our Ras Al Khaimah facility on a weekly basis and with the project gathering pace, we have also been arranging twice-weekly deliveries.”
According to Hussain, Bahrain is one of the most important markets for NGI.
The company is currently involved in a number of projects in the country, including the Twin Towers in Seef, which entails the supply of 8,000 to 10,000 sq m of Saint Gobain glass to Mannai Aluminium.
It has also supplied glass to Aluminium Services for the Zallaq resort project.
NGI, which started commercial production over a year ago, says its facilities located in Al Ghail Industrial Park of Ras Al Khaimah are among the few in the region to be equipped with a fully-automated glass processing line. Its product range includes single and double-glass units, stained glass, showroom/façade glass, shower cubicles, laminate glass and acoustic glass.
